Konkuk University GLOCAL Campus invites qualified, enthusiastic, and motivated TEFL professional to join our faculty.

Location: Chungju(충주), South Korea (1.5 hours south of Seoul)

Program Details

(1) Position

Non-tenure track, two-year (renewable) contract
Teach courses in the Department of English Language and Culture including English Communication Skills, Business English, Intercultural Communication, Workplace English, etc.

(2) Qualifications

Meet qualifications for an E-1visa or be a F visa holder
Be a native speaker of English from the USA, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, or the UK
Have at least a Master’s degree in English Linguistics (Applied Linguistics, Education, TESOL or a related major)
Have at least 2 years of experience teaching English at the university level (*non-university experience will be taken into consideration)

(3) Duties

Teach 15 credit-classes per year (i.e., minimum requirement), but usually teach 12-15 credit-classes per semester with overtime pay
Advising students
Instructional design and curriculum development
Teach summer and/or winter sessions and other non-academic classes when necessary (with paid overtime)
Follow program guidelines
Some administrative duties (e.g., keeping accurate class records)
Publish at least two KCI indexed journal per contract (2 years) as single first or corresponding author (preference will be given to applicants with publication experience)

(4) Period of Contract: March 1st , 2027 to February 29, 2029

Copy of graduate/post-graduate diplomas (Bachelor, Master’s, and/or Doctoral)
Copy of academic transcripts (original transcripts prior to contract)
Certificate of employment (for applicants with Korean work experience)
Copy of passport and alien registration card
Reference letters (optional but recommended)
List of publications (at least two KCI indexed journal articles published within the past 4 years are requried)

(7) Interview Process

Candidates for interview will be notified via e-mail when the document screening process is completed
Interview process will require a 15-minute teaching demonstration
A second interview may be necessary

(8) Salary and Benefits

35,149,000 – 37,216,000 KRW per year (depending on qualifications and teaching experiences)
Housing includes a furnished 66m2 (711 ft2) one-bedroom apartment nearby the university (deposit of 100,000 KRW, Personal for public utility bills and administrative expenses) 
Overtime rate ranges from 29,000 KRW per hour
30,000+ KRW per hour for extra-curriculum programs
National health insurance
Private pension
