Postdoctoral Research Fellow, 4 Projects (Overseas Doctorates Accepted, Rolling) — Cheongju (Chungbuk)

The National Institute of Health in Osong, Chungbuk is recruiting postdoctoral research fellows across four projects, on a rolling basis to the end of the year.

■ Projects
- Anti-ageing factors in metabolic disease in older people.
- Multi-omics immune mechanisms and severity prediction, using AI and spatial transcriptomics.
- Receptor-targeted therapeutics for hepatitis B and D.
- Genetics of severe chronic disease using the Korean Chip, including international collaborative research on Korean and multi-ethnic genomic data.

■ Who can apply
- A doctorate awarded within the past five years. The notice specifies a doctorate from either a Korean or an overseas institution.
- The official consent form lists passport number and health certificate as items collected from foreign applicants, which is how we know foreign applicants are expected. There is also an accommodation for people who are working, training or studying abroad and cannot attend an interview: they may submit a recommendation letter instead.

■ Two things to know before applying
- The institute is a designated national security facility. The notice states that a background check is carried out, and that an appointment can be cancelled even after hiring if the check comes back unfavourable.
- Before applying you are asked to contact the project's principal investigator to check the post has not already been filled.

■ Terms
- No salary figure is published. The research allowance is set by your career and record, and comes with a meal allowance, severance pay and the four national insurances. One year, renewable up to five. Five days a week, forty hours.
