The Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) in Pohang is inviting applications for two 1+1-year Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions in theoretical physics. Each appointment is initially for one year, extendable by a second subject to performance and funding.
■ The group
Successful candidates will join the new Junior Research Group "Quantum Computation and Emergent Geometry" led by Dr. Alexander Jahn, beginning October 2026. The group studies the discrete-geometrical structure of encoded quantum information, combining quantum error correction, holographic bulk–boundary dualities, operator algebras and tensor networks. Candidates with complementary backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
■ Start date
Late 2026, with 1 November as the earliest possible date.
■ Requirements
- A PhD in theoretical physics, completed by the starting date
- Preference for research experience in high-energy theory (holographic dualities, quantum gravity, operator-algebraic methods), quantum information theory (error correction, complexity, fault tolerance), or quantum many-body theory (tensor networks, statistical mechanics, phase transitions)
- Experience with international research collaborations is a plus
