Research Fellow, String Theory and Quantum Field Theory, 2 Posts (From ₩50,000,000 a Year) - KIAS (Seoul)

The Korea Institute for Advanced Study is hiring two Research Fellows in string theory and quantum field theory, in its School of Physics.

■ The work
- Research in string theory and quantum field theory. Two posts.

■ Who can apply
- You need a doctorate, or you must be due to receive one before the appointment date.
- The announcement carries the standard public-institute eligibility clause and, for Korean men, a military service condition. The institute runs in English and interviews applicants abroad by video, so these are not a bar to applying from outside Korea.

■ Pay and terms, as the announcement states them
- From 50,000,000 won a year. Severance pay, a welfare card and the four national insurances are listed separately, on top of that figure.
- 10,000,000 won a year of research funding.
- A first contract of two years. It can be extended once by two years, and up to three more years where research output and contribution are judged strong.
- The workplace is the institute's own building at 85 Hoegiro, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul 02455.

■ How to apply
- Through the institute's own recruitment site, or through Academic Jobs Online. The page linked below is the announcement itself.
- Every document must be submitted in English.
- You need a CV, a publication list, a research plan and at least two reference letters, which referees send directly.
- Interviews can be held by video for applicants living outside Korea. The announcement says so in its own words.

■ Closing
- 31 December 2026.
