■ The three positions — 1 opening each, full-time regular, open to entry-level and experienced candidates
1) AI for Math — developing and applying AI and machine-learning methods to open problems in pure and applied mathematics
2) Math for AI — establishing and advancing the mathematical foundations of AI and deep-learning models: theory, algorithms and analysis
3) AI for Science — AI-based applications in the sciences (physics, chemistry, life sciences) that use mathematics as a core tool

Expected appointment date: 1 March 2027, negotiable.

Note on affiliation: the Graduate School of AI and Mathematics is a programme organisation under the College of Natural Sciences. Faculty are appointed to the College of Natural Sciences and then work 100% on Graduate School of AI and Mathematics duties.

■ Eligibility
- Holds, or expects to earn, a doctoral degree in the field applied for. Those expecting a degree must be able to pass their final thesis review within 9 months of the application date, with their advisor's confirmation, and obtain the degree before appointment.
- Strong research record with clear potential in education and research
- Able to contribute substantially to new fields and to interdisciplinary collaboration

■ Preference
Foreign and female applicants are given preference for appointment where final evaluation scores are equal.

■ Grounds for disqualification
- Falling under any subparagraph of Article 33 of the State Public Officials Act
- Civil rights suspended or removed under relevant laws
- Not having fulfilled military service obligations under Article 76 of the Military Service Act
- Subject to an employment restriction order under Article 56 of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles against Sexual Abuse
- Dismissed or having an appointment revoked for being hired unlawfully by another public institution, where 5 years have not elapsed
- Subject to employment restrictions under Article 82 of the Act on the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission

■ Deadline
1 July 2026 to 15 August 2026, 18:00 Korea time.

■ Documents to submit
- KAIST full-time faculty application form (set format), including the summary of key achievements, teaching plan and research plan
- Cover letter, for example the AMS Standard Cover Sheet, listing three referees
- Curriculum vitae including a publication list
- Research statement
- Teaching statement
- 3 representative papers
- Letters of recommendation: 3 or more for assistant/associate professor, 6 for professor or tenured professor. Recommenders e-mail these directly to [email protected]

■ Selection
Round 1 document screening, round 2 in-depth review, round 3 departmental seminar and personnel committee review, round 4 final appointment decision after college and headquarters faculty personnel committee review.
