■ Requirements
- Outstanding research achievements and strong potential in education and research
- Able to make significant contributions to new disciplines, multidisciplinary research and collaborative research with industry
- Holds, or expects to earn, a doctoral degree in the area of specialisation
- Able to lecture in English

Candidates expecting to earn a doctorate must be able to pass their final thesis exam, with their advisor's confirmation, within 9 months of the application date, and receive the degree before the appointment date. A letter of recommendation from the doctoral advisor is mandatory for prospective doctoral graduates.

■ Grounds for disqualification
- Falling under any subparagraph of Article 33 of the State Public Officials Act
- Civil rights suspended or removed under relevant laws
- Not having fulfilled military service obligations under Article 76 of the Military Service Act
- Subject to an employment restriction order under Article 56 of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles against Sexual Abuse
- Dismissed or having an appointment revoked for being hired unlawfully by another public institution, where 5 years have not elapsed
- Subject to employment restrictions under Article 82 of the Act on the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission

- KAIST application form (provided), including a summary of key achievements, course syllabus, research proposal, and consent to collection and use of personal information
- Cover letter, under 2 pages, required by the department
- Curriculum vitae
- Up to 3 representative published papers
- Letters of recommendation, requested after document screening and sent directly by recommenders: 3 for assistant or associate professor, 6 for professor or tenured professor

■ Selection
Round 1 document screening, round 2 in-depth deliberations, round 3 academic seminar and departmental deliberation, round 4 final decision by the faculty deliberations committee of the college. Candidates who pass each round are notified individually.

■ Notes
