Common scams & how to avoid them

Most people here are genuine, but please watch out for these:

• Too-cheap deals. If a price is far below normal, be suspicious.
• Pay-first requests. Avoid deposits or full payment before you have seen the item in person.
• Moving off Waegook. Be careful if someone pushes you to chat or pay through another app, gift cards, or crypto.
• Fake "couriers". Messages saying you must pay a delivery/customs fee to release a parcel are a classic scam.
• Housing deposits. For rooms/apartments, confirm the person is the real owner (property registry: 등기부등본), get the contract in writing, and never wire a large deposit to someone you have not verified.

Use public meeting spots, check reviews and the Verified badge, and trust your instincts. Once your account is verified you can report suspicious posts and users.
