GKS scholarship 2027: apply online from 15 to 30 September

The Korean government scholarship for a bachelor's degree, GKS (Global Korea Scholarship), is open for 2027.

Dates
  • Embassy track: apply online on the Study in Korea website from 15 September, 11:00, to 30 September, 18:00, Korea time. Same dates for every country.
  • University track: apply to one university directly, between September and November. Each university sets its own dates.

Embassies and universities may add their own steps.

What it covers
  • Tuition up to 5 million won a semester. The university pays the rest.
  • A year of Korean language classes.
  • An economy flight ticket.
  • An allowance: 14,400,000 won a year during the degree, 13,560,000 won in the language year.

Already living in Korea? Check these first
  • You cannot apply if you finished, or will finish, high school in Korea. International schools count.
  • You cannot apply in your last year at a high school or university in Korea.
  • You cannot apply if you already have a bachelor's degree.
  • You must be born on or after 1 March 2002.
  • You must be a citizen of a country invited in the guide. The UIC programme on the university track is open to every country.
  • Picked while living in Korea? The flight is not paid, and you may not get the new visa. Ask immigration as soon as results are out.

Apply to one track and one university only.

Next step: check the country list and the documents in the official 2027 guide before 30 September.

Plan it on Waegook: go step by step on our GKS page in Waegook Study in Korea.
