How to get NHIS help in English and three other languages

National Health Insurance (NHIS, 국민건강보험공단) runs a foreign-language line. Save this list.

By phone

• Main number: 1577-1000, weekdays 9:00 to 18:00 (a paid call). Press 6 for a foreign-language consultant.
• Direct foreign-language number: 033-811-2000.
• Languages: English, Chinese, Vietnamese and Uzbek.
• From abroad: +82-33-811-2001, weekdays 9:00 to 18:00 Korean time.

In person
NHIS has service centres for foreign residents in Seoul (Sindorim Technomart, office building, 3rd floor), Ansan, Suwon, Incheon and Uijeongbu. They handle membership and premium matters.

Forms in your language
The health check questionnaire (문진표) is available in 14 languages on the NHIS English site.

Before you call
Have your foreigner registration number ready, and your NHIS bill if the question is about a payment.

It depends on nothing, but addresses and hours change. Check the NHIS site before you travel to a centre.
