How to Use a Coupang Gift Card

Coupang is the biggest shopping app in Korea. You order today, and most things arrive the next morning.

A Coupang gift card is money for Coupang. You may get one as a gift from a friend, or win one as a prize.

What is it?

• It is digital money, from ₩5,000 to ₩200,000.
• It arrives as a message or a link with a 16-character code. There is no plastic card.
• When you register the code, the money goes into your Coupang account as 쿠팡캐시 (Coupang Cash).

Where can I use it?

On Coupang (shopping) and Coupang Eats (food delivery). You only need the Coupang app and a free account.

How to use it

1. Open your gift. It can arrive in any app: KakaoTalk, WhatsApp, email. Find the 16-character code. If it came as a KakaoTalk gift, just tap the yellow 등록하기 (Register) button: it copies the code and opens Coupang for you.
2. Register the code. In the Coupang app, go to 마이쿠팡 (My Coupang) > 쿠팡캐시 (Coupang Cash) > 기프트카드 등록하기 (Register gift card) and enter the code. The money appears right away.
3. Pay with it. When you buy something, choose 쿠팡캐시 (Coupang Cash) on the payment page and tap 전액사용 (use all). If your order costs more, your card pays the rest. If it costs less, the rest stays for next time.

Three things to remember

• Register the card within 1 year.
• Registration cannot be undone, so register it on your own Coupang account.
• Never share your code or a photo of it. Anyone who sees the code can take the money. If a stranger asks you to buy gift cards and send them the code, it is a scam.
