What do I need?
- Application form, online on GIST's own system Apply
- One recommendation letter, submitted by your recommender through GIST's system
- Transcripts from every high school (or university) you attended, with the grading scale explained
- High school diploma, or certificate of expected graduation
- Official English test score report, from the last two years, unless you are exempt
- At least one standardised test score report
- Copy of your passport or national ID
- Copies of both parents' passports, or official papers showing their nationality
- Korean-origin applicants only: certificate of entry and exit, proof of loss of Korean citizenship, primary and middle school transcripts
- Optional: up to five honours and awards, a high school profile (highly recommended), a TOPIK report
THE LETTER GOES ONLY THROUGH GIST'S SYSTEM, from the exact email address you entered for your recommender. Post, fax and email are refused.
Your recommender prints the letter, signs it by hand, scans it and uploads it as a PDF.
If admitted, you post an apostilled (or consular-verified) diploma and the other papers GIST asks for by the registration deadline.
If you submit twice, only the latest application is reviewed.
Applicants from some countries, Pakistan for one, may need an English score such as IELTS for the visa.

All requirements
- You graduate from high school by 31 July 2027 and can post an apostilled diploma by the registration deadline, so a graduation after early July rules you out
- Neither parent is a Korean citizen, or you are of Korean origin, did primary, middle and high school outside Korea and never enrolled at a school in Korea
- Korean citizens, including dual citizens, cannot apply as international students
- Foreign students living in Korea who finish high school in Korea may apply
- About 15 students are admitted
- English score: TOEFL, IELTS, TEPS, TOEIC, Cambridge, PTE Academic or Duolingo, from the last two years. Citizens of the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand are exempt
- At least one standardised test report is compulsory: SAT, ACT, GCE A-Level, IB, AP, an International Olympiad certificate, or your country's school-leaving or entrance exam
- An interview is by invitation after the document review
- Every international student also gets 130,000 won a month and 270,000 a month for meals (on 11 credits and no probation), 130,000 a month more with a GPA of 3.0 out of 4.5, a 200,000 settlement grant and a one-way flight
- GIST pays back 100% of your National Health Insurance contribution
