What do I need?
- Online application on the Uway system, with the fee paid
- Two recommendation letters, sent by your referees themselves
- Degree certificate, or a certificate of expected graduation
- Academic transcript
- Proof of English: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC or TEPS, taken in the last two years
YOUR REFEREES CANNOT BE CONTACTED UNTIL YOU HAVE PAID THE APPLICATION FEE. GIST sends them the form only after payment, so paying late costs you their time, not just yours.
If your country holds no English test, or you cannot sit one because of an excessive economic burden, GIST admits you conditionally on a letter from your last school confirming you were taught in English. You then have six months to produce a score.
After you enrol you have TEN DAYS to post the original degree and transcript, apostilled or confirmed by a Korean embassy.
Doctoral applicants need apostilles for the bachelor degree as well as the master.
Nothing is returned, so send an apostilled certified copy rather than your only original.

All requirements
- Two recommendation letters, sent by your referees through Google Forms. The link only reaches them after you pay the application fee
- Every document in English or Korean. A translation must come from the issuing institution or a notary
- English: TOEFL iBT 80 or PBT 550, IELTS 6.5, TOEIC 750, or new TEPS 285, taken within the last two years
- A bachelor degree from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK or the USA can replace the test, with GIST's prior approval
- If your country holds no official English test, or you cannot sit one because of an excessive economic burden, GIST admits you conditionally on a letter from your last school confirming you were taught in English. You then have SIX MONTHS to produce a score or you are removed from the register
- After you enrol you have 10 days to post your original degree and transcript, apostilled or confirmed by a Korean embassy
- Doctoral applicants need apostilles for both the bachelor and the master degree
- Korean citizens with dual citizenship cannot apply
- Your final degree must be awarded by the first week of January 2027 to start in spring
