What do I need?

• Application form and statement of purpose, printed after you apply on Uway Apply
• Consent form for academic record verification, on Keimyung's form
• Degree certificate: your bachelor's for a master's, your master's for a PhD. From abroad: notarised translation plus an apostille or consular confirmation. From China: a CDGDC report
• Transcripts showing credits, grades and the maximum score. Grades that are hard to convert need a WES or Foreign Credits conversion
• Korean certificate: TOPIK 3, TOPIK IBT 3, KKPT, or level 2 at the Keimyung Korean Language Institute
• Bank balance certificate of at least 16,000,000 won
• Copy of your passport, and both sides of your alien registration card if you have one
• Family relationship certificate and your parents' ID, showing each parent's nationality
• PhD applicants: a list of research achievements, if you have any

APPLY ONLINE, THEN SEND THE PAPERS: in person to Dongcheon Hall room 201 on a weekday, or by post postmarked by 13 November.

THE BANK CERTIFICATE must be issued within 30 days of applying, in your name, a parent's, or a sibling's if both parents have died. Keep the balance for your whole stay.

Graduating from Keimyung, or studying at its language institute? 8,000,000 won is enough. Living in Korea on an alien registration card? Only a personal certificate from a Korean bank counts.

The fee is 60,000 won for a master's (80,000 in the arts) and 80,000 for a PhD, not refunded after the application period.

Cannot enter Korea within 15 days of the semester start because of your visa? Your admission is cancelled.

All requirements

• You and both parents are non-Korean, or you did all of primary, secondary and university education outside Korea
• Master's: a bachelor's degree, finished or due before you enrol. PhD: a master's. A degree in another subject is fine, with 3 to 9 extra credits after admission
• Korean track: TOPIK 3, TOPIK IBT 3, a pass in the Keimyung Korean Proficiency Test (KKPT), or level 2 at the Keimyung Korean Language Institute. Scores must date from after 13 November 2024
• Without any of these, the interview panel may still accept your language. You must still reach the required level to graduate
• Judged on documents (200 points) and an interview (300 points). An interview average below 40 out of 100 fails you
• Apply to ONE department in the general graduate school only
• Classes are run by department, not by major, and master's and doctoral students study together
• If fewer than three people apply to a department, Keimyung may cancel its intake and refund the fee
• THIS DEPARTMENT HAS NO ENGLISH TRACK. It teaches in Korean
