What do I need?
- Photo as a JPG, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, white background, taken within 6 months; colour copy of the passport page showing your photo, expiry date and passport number
- Final schooling: graduation certificate, degree certificate and transcript (scans of the originals), with an apostille or consular confirmation; the verified originals go by post
- Schooled in China: a CHSI verification report (other routes are printed for vocational and technical schools). Chinese nationals also fill in the school information confirmation form and post the original
- Colour ID copies of you and your parents; family relation papers issued within the last 4 months
- Parents' employment certificate showing the workplace contact and address (a business registration if self-employed); it may be left out if the bank certificate is in your own name
- Bank balance certificate, 8,000,000 won or more, in your or a parent's name; the original goes by post
- Personal data consent (IALE form) and translation confirmation (Ministry of Justice form). The form says someone other than you must translate and add a copy of their ID; a foreigner on a short stay or staying illegally cannot translate
THE BANK BALANCE IS 8,000,000 WON OR MORE, in your or a parent's name. Only a certificate issued after the application start date counts; one with a printed validity is accepted until that date, at most 6 months from issue.
The balance must be kept for the whole of your permitted stay.
Two nationalities have their own bank rule, as printed. Vietnamese nationals: the 8,000,000 won certificate, or a "Korean study expenses deposit confirmation" issued by a Korean financial institution located in Vietnam.
Uzbek nationals: a balance certificate issued by a Korean financial institution located in Uzbekistan, with the balance kept for 3 months or more.
NO APPLICATION FEE IS PRINTED in the 2026 guide, the required-documents file or the course pages.
Fees are paid to the school's Jeonbuk Bank account printed in the guide. 2027 fees are not posted.

All requirements
- Foreigners whose mother tongue is not Korean, with high school graduation or an equal or higher level of schooling. Foreigners already staying in Korea may attend within their permitted stay and must file proof of their final schooling
- Four terms a year (spring, summer, fall, winter), 10 weeks and 200 hours each: 5 days a week, 4 hours a day, 09:00 to 12:50. A cultural or sports day is planned each term and counts as class time
- All classes are in person and in Korean only. Six groups: beginner 1 and 2, intermediate 1 and 2, advanced 1 and 2. A class has about 15 students (course page). An evening class, 18:30 to 22:20, is listed as "may not run"
- Apply online only, on the IALE site, uploading colour scans; selection is on documents. Missing papers, or refusing a request to complete them, counts as withdrawing
- NEW TRAINEES REGISTER FOR 2 TERMS (6 months) and pay tuition, dormitory and insurance within the registration period. You must enter Korea before the first class day of your first term
- New trainees must live in the university dormitory for at least 1 term (3 months), about 1,300,000 won a term; after one term you may live off campus
- First payment as printed: tuition for 2 terms 2,600,000 won + dormitory about 1,300,000 won + insurance for a year 200,000 won = 4,100,000 won. Textbooks and cultural activities are paid separately
- After two terms the school settles what you paid (tuition, dormitory, insurance) and refunds any remainder to your own account. The dormitory fee can change each term
- Insurance: private cover for new trainees (whether it is taken out depends on intake numbers); after 6 months in Korea you join National Health Insurance automatically
- Refunds. Before entry: everything you paid, less remittance charges. After entry: full tuition before classes start; 70% before one third of the class hours; 50% before half; nothing after half. A trainee who absconds gets nothing back
- 2026 terms (Korean guide): spring 9 March to 20 May; summer 8 June to 18 August; fall 7 September to 19 November; winter 7 December 2026 to 18 February 2027. The schedule may change
- 2026 application windows: spring 8 to 19 December 2025; summer 16 to 27 March 2026; fall 15 to 26 June 2026; winter 14 to 25 September 2026. NO 2027 TERMS OR WINDOWS WERE POSTED on 12 October 2026
- Degree students at Kunsan National University take the same course at a lower fee (see the degree rows); students entering a degree below TOPIK 4 are sent to it
- Marks, as the degree guides print them for this course: mid-term 40%, final exam 40%, attendance 10%, homework 10%, and a mock TOPIK at the end of term. A completion certificate needs an average of 60 or more and 80% attendance or more
- The office's FAQ board adds: a certificate of EXPECTED high school graduation is not accepted, so you apply after you graduate; and you may take the course for at most 8 terms (2 years), your first term included
- Same FAQ: the fees are paid in one lump sum, not in instalments, and you may not leave Korea during a term except for a family event
