Dongseo doctoral excellence scholarship (대학원 박사과정 우수장학)
For outstanding new full-time doctoral students: grade A pays 50% of tuition and grade B 30%, kept through the standard course length while you hold a set grade level. Selection looks at published papers (2 or more by the guide's conversion) and at bachelor's and master's grades (3.5 or higher on a 4.5 scale). A separate application is needed.

Who can apply
- New full-time doctoral students judged outstanding (Spring 2027 guide)
- Requirement 1: 2 or more journal papers by the guide's conversion: a KCI paper counts as 1, a SCOPUS paper as 1.5, an SCIE-level paper as 2. Only work as first author, co-first author or corresponding author counts
- Requirement 2: bachelor's and master's grades of 3.5 or higher on a 4.5 scale (3.3 on a 4.3 scale, 3.0 on a 4.0 scale)
- The guide does not say what separates grade A from grade B
- The English guide words the paper rule differently and adds a recommendation by the prospective advisor. The Korean text is shown here; ask the office before relying on either
- Separately, every doctoral student gets a free dormitory place for the first year (2 semesters and 2 vacations). That is printed as a dormitory rule, not as part of this award
- Scholarship benefits can be cancelled if you have neither National Health Insurance nor private insurance
