Hanbat National University graduate new-student merit scholarship (outside the quota)
Full-time new international graduate students with high grades and a supervisor fixed before entry can get the whole entrance fee plus half of tuition: master's with bachelor's grades of 89.9% or more, PhD with master's grades of 94.9% or more. Who can apply
- Master's: full-time new students with bachelor's grades of 89.9% or more, whose supervisor is decided before entry. PhD: master's grades of 94.9% or more, same conditions (Fall 2026 guide, PDF p.23)
- The grade used is the transcript filed with the application; if the full mark and your score are not shown, no award. The number of recipients is set by the graduate committee
- Special graduate schools (Industry, Entrepreneurial Management): the master's award is paid only to students admitted outside the quota, which is the foreigner track ("특수대학원은 정원 외 입학생에 한하여 지급")
- Later semesters (not automatic): 50% or 35% of tuition for GPA 4.0 or 3.5 plus a language standard (TOPIK 5 or 4, IELTS 6.5 or 5.5, TOEFL iBT 79 or 71, and others); merit awards 50%, 35% or 25%. No double awards
- Merit awards need 6+ credits last semester, GPA 3.5 or more and no C grade. Students under an exchange agreement between Hanbat and their foreign university get what that agreement sets
- Research and teaching assistant posts are paid as work scholarships within the budget
- A grant for a published paper, up to 750,000 won for an international journal or 300,000 won for a Korean one, and up to 600,000 won to translate a thesis into English
