Kangwon National University first-semester scholarship for international undergraduates, Gangneung and Wonju campuses
New and transfer students in the general departments of the Gangneung and Wonju campuses get part of their first-semester tuition off by TOPIK level: full tuition at TOPIK 5, 80% at TOPIK 4, 20% at TOPIK 3 (or the English scores printed). Later semesters depend on TOPIK 4 and last semester's GPA.

Who can apply
- New and transfer international undergraduates in the general departments of the Gangneung and Wonju campuses (Spring 2027 guide, which says the award is for the first semester of year 1 only)
- The D grade line, as printed: "한국어능력시험 3급 이상, 영어능력시험(TOEFL 550, CBT 210, iBT 80, IELTS 5.5, TEPS 550점) 또는 그에 상응하는 점수 이상"
- The guide defines the grades as shares of 수업료 (tuition): A full, B 80%, C 40%, D 20%. Awards may change
- From semester 2: TOPIK 4 holders by last semester's GPA: 4.0 or higher A (full), 3.5 B (80%), 3.0 D (20%)
- The school's scholarship page (undated) says the same rules apply to both the Gangneung and the Wonju campus
- Kangwon's scholarship rules of 1 October 2026 print TOPIK 4 as 60% of 수업료, not 80%, and no English route for the 20% line. The newer 16 October guide is shown here: ask the scholarship office
- Those rules also set later semesters by rank: 12 credits, GPA 2.5 and TOPIK 4 (English track: IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 86 (4.5) or NEW TEPS 387), then top 1% full, 5% 80%, 10% 40%, 30% 20% of 수업료
