Who can apply
- New Korean-track freshmen and transfers for Spring 2027. The guide heads these "entrance score scholarships" (입학성적 우수장학), for those who hold the level at admission, and prints no application papers for them
- Its campus scholarship table does print application papers for other awards, and it later speaks of students who "did not receive a TOPIK scholarship at admission" (입학 시 TOPIK 장학금 미수혜자)
- The international office's scholarship page (undated) prints a step for the foreigner awards it lists: hand your proof to the scholarship officer at the Student Affairs Office. The dated guide prints none. Ask apply@syu.ac.kr
- The TOPIK scholarships are not for F visa holders or 화교 (long-settled ethnic Chinese residents of Korea), as the guide prints it
- The grade scholarship is for foreigners admitted through the foreigner track with both parents foreign nationals, up to the regular number of semesters of your department
- Transfer TOPIK 6 award: page 19 of the guide prints the regular length of the course and page 20 prints 2 years. Ask the office which applies
- The international office scholarship page (undated) and the student affairs page (revised 5 December 2025) print older terms: TOPIK 6 "to the regular semesters" and GPA 3.5 to keep the TOPIK 4 award. The newer guide is shown here
- Student affairs page (revised 5 December 2025): the grade scholarship and the "S-TOPIK" scholarship, as the page names it, cannot be held together, and school scholarships in total cannot pass 100% of fees
- A grade average 0.5 or more above the previous semester can earn 500,000 won, within budget
- Campus work is paid separately as a work scholarship: 10,320 won an hour (the rate changes every year), for hours worked in offices or cleaning lecture rooms
