D-2 eligibility check

Degree-seeking study at an accredited Korean university.

Who it is for

• Admission to an eligible institution Your institution is eligible for D-2 and you are not subject to the enhanced-screening language rules. Admission plus proof of funds is the normal path.
• Certified university: reduced documents Certified and excellent-certified universities are exempt from submitting financial evidence, except for nationals of the designated and key-management countries.
• Extension with the certified-university financial waiver Degree students at excellent-certified and certified universities with an overall GPA of C (2.0) or better file WITHOUT financial evidence, and can receive up to two years per extension.
• Enhanced-screening university, general-country student The enhanced Korean-language requirements apply only to nationals of the minister-designated and key-management countries (체류 p.41).
• Degree programme, same-university progression (one level relaxed) A student progressing to a higher programme at the SAME university gets the Korean requirement relaxed by one level (체류 p.41): TOPIK 3 (or KIIP stage 3 / pre-test 61+, or Sejong intermediate 1)...
• Enhanced-screening university: bachelor's level or above, TOPIK 4 For bachelor's (including advanced-major) programmes and above at a university under enhanced screening: TOPIK 4, KIIP stage 4, or a pre-test score of 81+.
• Enhanced-screening university: associate level, TOPIK 2 For associate-degree and root-industry programmes: TOPIK 2, KIIP stage 2, or a pre-test score of 41+.
• Enhanced-screening university: arts/sports, TOPIK 3 Arts and physical-education departments have a relaxed bar: TOPIK 3, KIIP stage 3, or a pre-test score of 61+.
• Enhanced-screening university: exchange student, TOPIK 2 Exchange students not receiving a Korean degree: TOPIK 2, KIIP stage 2, or a pre-test score of 41+.
• English-taught programme On a recognised English track, the Korean-language requirement is replaced by English evidence.
• Extension while studying normally Actively studying (or programme completed), daytime or authorized-night classes, and still inside your degree's total time cap.
• Study visa issued by a Korean embassy or consulate Admission to an eligible institution, with proof of one year's tuition and living costs, is the normal path.

What the check asks

The check asks 17 questions, for example: Where are you applying from, Have you been admitted to a Korean educational institution, Which programme will you study, What is your university's certification status. Your answers are never stored.

Documents a result can list

The result lists the documents for your route. Depending on your answers, they include:

• Application form, passport and a standard photo
• Certificate of admission from the school
• The school's business registration certificate
• Proof of your highest completed education
• Proof of funds for tuition and living costs
• Application form (No. 34), passport with a copy, one standard photo, and the fee
• Enrollment or research-student certificate
• Proof of where you live
• Application form, passport, alien registration card and the fee
• Proof you are studying normally
