F-2 eligibility check

General residence status covering several defined groups.

Who it is for

• Family of a Korean national or permanent resident The minor child of a Korean national, or the spouse and minor children of someone holding permanent residence.
• Born of a relationship with a Korean national Born of a marriage, including a de facto marriage, with a Korean national.
• Recognised refugee Recognition as a refugee is itself a qualifying category for residence status.
• Seven years of continuous residence Continuous residence of seven years or more on a status other than diplomatic, with your life established in Korea.
• Five years on a professional status For holders of professor through professional-employment statuses (E-1 to E-5) or specific activities (E-7), the minimum residence period is five years rather than seven.
• Investor: USD 500,000 with three years of investment status USD 500,000 or more invested, together with three years or more of continuous residence on investment status.
• Posted by a substantial foreign investor An executive or employee posted to a Korean foreign-invested company by a foreign corporation that invested USD 500,000 or more, resident here three years or more.
• Investor: USD 300,000 employing two Koreans USD 300,000 or more invested while employing two or more Korean nationals.
• Former permanent resident Someone who lost permanent residence but whose established life in Korea makes continued residence appropriate. People who were deported are excluded.
• Appointed as a public official Appointment under the State Public Officials Act or the Local Public Officials Act.
• Property investment under the designated scheme Investment in property meeting the region, target and amount the Ministry designates.
• Special contribution or public benefit Recognised by the Ministry for special contribution to Korea or for advancing the public interest.
