What do I need?
- Online application; final diploma or enrolment certificate copy; passport copy (and ARC copy if you hold one); one 3.5 x 4.5 cm photo, white background
- Final school record and transcript originals with apostille or consular confirmation (Japanese nationals exempt from apostille)
- Family relation certificate original (a notarised translation if not in English); ID copies of you and your parents
- Employment and income certificate of you or your parents; bank balance certificate original
THE BANK BALANCE IS 8,000,000 WON OR MORE in your own name, original, issued within 30 days of applying; a parent's account needs a family relation certificate, a spouse's a marriage certificate.
Fees (brochure): application 50,000 won, tuition 1,300,000 a term, textbooks 50,000, insurance 80,000 for six months (compulsory for D-4); after six months, national health insurance of about 70,000 won a month.
Dormitory (brochure, 2025 second-half rates): on-campus double room 1,517,000 won for spring or autumn (100,000 deposit included, overseas transfer in two parts), about 800,000 for summer or winter in cash; meal coupons compulsory, 413,400 to 742,000.
Off-campus women-only hall (2025 second-half rates): 1,500,000 won for spring or autumn, about 800,000 for summer or winter, no meal coupon, shared kitchen. Every dormitory entrant brings a TB test result and a measles vaccination certificate (Winter 2026: TB test issued after 1 October).

All requirements
- High school graduates or the equivalent. Apply online at m.bufs.ac.kr/institute_default.aspx
- RESTRICTED NATIONALITIES (2026 notice): applicants from Guinea, Nepal, Mali, Morocco, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Republic of Yemen, Uganda, Uzbekistan, India, Cameroon and Pakistan cannot apply to the regular course
- Of those, Vietnam, Nepal and Morocco applicants may still apply with a partner-institution recommendation, or as a relative within the 4th degree of a current BUFS student or of a Busan resident
- The restriction notice is for 2026 terms; no 2027 list had been posted by 1 October 2026, so check before applying for 2027
- D-4: except for applicants from Japan, Taiwan, the EU and North America, the minimum enrolment is one year; the Standard Admission Letter needs at least two terms registered
- EU, North American, Japanese and Taiwanese applicants, and anyone who needs no D-4, send only the basic papers: final diploma or enrolment certificate copy, passport copy and one 3.5 x 4.5 cm photo (white background)
- Extra D-4 papers: China (education verification report or consular confirmation, hukou, resident ID); Vietnam (notarised birth registration, health check at the embassy-designated hospital); Uzbekistan (TOPIK 1 or a King Sejong certificate)
- Refunds: full before the term, two thirds before a third of it, half before half, nothing after; D-4 students prove departure or onward study. No postponement: refund and reapply
- Finishing the regular or short course here earns 30% off the first BUFS undergraduate semester
- The 2027 dates come from the 2026 to 2027 brochure (May 2026), which says they may change; no Spring 2027 intake notice is posted yet
