What do I need?
- Application form, with self-introduction and study plan Download
- Two photographs on a white background (the English page says one)
- Passport copy
- Diploma and transcripts of your highest degree, apostilled or confirmed by a consulate. Chinese applicants use a CHSI check
- Bank balance certificate: more than 8,000,000 won, frozen for six months
- Your parents' employment and income certificates
- Proof of family relationship
- Copies of your own and your parents' home-country ID
THE BANK BALANCE MUST BE FROZEN FOR SIX MONTHS, not simply present. That takes planning a bank visit well before the deadline.
Chonnam says the required documents and the deadline can BOTH change with your country or your situation, and to contact the person who handles it.
Two deadlines per term: the earlier one if you need a D-4 visa, the later one if you already hold another.
The 50,000 fee is charged only if you are accepted, and is not refunded. Nothing you send is returned.

- You finished high school or the equivalent
- Four ten-week terms a year. No Korean needed to start: a placement test sets your level
- Two deadlines per term: the earlier one if you need a D-4 visa, the later one if you already hold another visa
- A bank balance of more than 8,000,000 won, frozen for six months
- GKS scholars, Chonnam degree students, exchange students, foreign faculty and partner-school entrants pay 15% less: 1,190,000
- Level 3 here counts as Korean proof for Chonnam degree applications. Two terms here to level 4 earn the CNU-BRIDGE degree scholarship
- Six months after arrival you must join National Health Insurance
