What do I need?
- Application forms 1 and 2, printed from Uway Apply after you apply online Apply
- Bachelor's degree or expected-graduation certificate: original, notarised translation, apostille, legalisation, or CHSI report
- PhD: your master's degree certificate, the same way
- Transcripts for every degree, showing grades, credits and years of study
- Language certificate, or [Form 1] Confirmation of Academic Capability sent by your prospective advisor
- Forms 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8: records release, academic background, personal statement, family information, personal information consent Forms
- Financial proof: a bank balance certificate of 16,000,000 won, [Form 6] from your advisor, or a scholarship certificate
- Copy of your passport, valid six months past admission
- Parents' passports and a family relationship or birth certificate showing names, nationalities and relationships, notarised
- Alien registration card, if you live in Korea
ORIGINALS ONLY, on A4, in the listed order. Copies, scans and email are refused, and nothing is returned.
Notarised documents, translations and apostilles must be issued within six months of submitting.
Papers must ARRIVE at the Office of International Affairs by the deadline, in person or by post.
The fee is 70,000 and is not refunded.
For the D-2 visa you need your own bank certificate of 16,000,000 won: Form 6 does not count there.

- You and both parents hold non-Korean nationality. Dual Korean nationals and stateless people cannot apply
- A bachelor's degree, or one due before term, for a master's; a master's for a PhD. Your degree must come from a ministry-accredited school
- This programme only takes applicants with TOPIK 3, or with [Form 1], a Confirmation of Academic Capability sent by a prospective Chonnam advisor
- Taught 100% in English
- Judged 50% on language and 50% on your record. Interviews depend on the department
- Apply to ONE department only. Two applications make both invalid
- A bank balance of 16,000,000 won in your or a parent's name issued within 30 days of applying, a professor's support letter [Form 6], or a scholarship certificate. Form 6 cannot be used for the visa
