A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- Electronic Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering (ABEEK-accredited unit)
- Age-Tech: from year 2 the tuition follows the band of your major and may differ (guide)
- Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering (ABEEK unit), Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
- Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Photonics Engineering (ABEEK unit), Welding and Joining Science Engineering, Advanced Energy Engineering, Nuclear Engineering
- Architecture (5-year programme): portfolio. Transfers send a portfolio of finished major courses and may need more than the 6 remaining semesters (KAAB rules)
- Fire Protection and Disaster Management (the year-1 band of Life-Care is not printed; ask)
Published by Chosun University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form (apply online, print and sign), self-introduction, study plan and personal data consent, all originals
- Passport copy (applicants in Korea add both sides of the alien registration card) and ID or citizenship papers of you and both parents, copies
- Family relation papers with a notarised translation: China, household register (hukou) or kinship certificate; other countries, family relation or birth certificate. Add papers for a divorce, death, remarriage or single mother
- High school graduation (or expected) certificate with a notarised translation, showing the year and month: China, a CHSI report or an apostille; other countries, an apostille or consular confirmation; Korea, the original
- Full high school transcript with a notarised translation (a Korean or English issue may be a copy). Freshmen only
- Language proof if you have it (TOPIK report and so on) and Korean course proof if any (enrolment or completion certificate and transcript); other activity proof if any
- Bank balance certificate, original (see the notes)
- TRANSFERS: everything above except the high school transcript, plus the university graduation certificate (or high school diploma with a university enrolment certificate), legalised as above
- TRANSFERS also: the university transcript for every year with credits and percentile marks per subject (notarised translation), and the academic verification request form (attachment 3 of the guide)
- China, no CHSI report possible (secondary vocational schools): 普通中专, 职业高中 and 成人中专 graduates file a local education authority graduation certificate with an apostille (issued online: only if it can be verified online)
- Or, issued offline, with the school information form (attachment 2): that local authority certificate with an apostille, or the school's own certificate confirmed by the provincial or city education office, with an apostille
- China, 技工学校 (skilled workers schools): the online record from www.mohrss.gov.cn (only if verifiable online) with an apostille. Other schools recognised at high school level: the school's own certificate with an apostille
- For those other schools also file a copy of the establishment permit (事业单位法人证书 or 民办学校办学许可证; academic courses only, no notarisation needed). The full table is on PDF p.8 (printed p.6)
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE (printed "약 USD 12,000"); students of the Chosun Korean Language Program and exchange students 8,000,000 won or more. An original issued within 30 days before you hand it in.
Applicants living in Korea: only a Korean account in your own name, and it may be handed in after the result. For applicants abroad the guide does not say whose name the account must be in.
NO APPLICATION FEE IS PRINTED in the guide, the notice or the online application page.
Every paper must be in by the paper deadline (17:00, Korean time) or you get no interview and fail. You may upload scans during the online window and send the originals after, within that deadline.
Tuition is paid into your own virtual account, in one payment: round 1 on 4 to 8 January 2027, round 2 on 1 to 5 February 2027 (10:00 to 16:00). Not paying cancels the admission.
The standard admission letter is sent only after tuition and the required papers are in. Applicants abroad apply for a D-2 visa at the Korean embassy in January or February 2027.
Applicants in Korea change status (for example D-4 to D-2) through the International Affairs Team; the visa meeting in February 2027 is compulsory, and you must stay in Korea until the change is done.
Full tuition refund if you hand in the enrolment withdrawal form by 19 February 2027. Expected graduates must hand in the final certificate before entry or lose the admission.
If the visa is refused or not issued and you cannot enter Korea, the admission is cancelled. Admitted to two or more universities? Register at one only, or lose the admission. A tuition refund after a cancellation carries a charge you pay.
Dormitory (Glocal Baekhak Hall, 2026 rates): double 812,000 won, single 1,218,000 won (the graduate guide labels these a semester). Meals: at least 1 a day, 315,000 won (75 meals), or 2 a day, 585,000 won.
Dormitory places go first come, first served on application papers; you choose it on the application form and cannot change it later. A tuberculosis test result is needed to move in. Hall renovated in August 2026.
Health insurance: National Health Insurance from alien registration, 76,390 won a month (2026 basis in the Korean guide; the English guide says 2025).

- FRESHMEN: graduated, or about to graduate, from schooling equal to Korean primary, middle and high school, in Korea or abroad. The guide says nothing about GED or homeschooling: ask the office
- TRANSFER TO YEAR 2: one year (2 semesters) or more at a regular four-year university with the required credits, or a junior college degree (held or expected)
- TRANSFER TO YEAR 3: two years (4 semesters) or more at a regular four-year university with the required credits, or a junior college degree (held or expected)
- TRANSFER TO YEAR 4 is printed for graduates of a 3-year junior college course in the same or a similar major, but the unit table shows year 1 to 3 columns only: ask the office before applying for year 4
- KOREAN, one of: TOPIK 3 or higher (TOPIK PBT or IBT; arts and physical education units TOPIK 2); a pass in the school's own Korean test (CSU-TOPIK, 4 November 2026); intermediate level or higher of a Korean language course in Korea;
- King Sejong Institute intermediate 1 or higher; or KIIP (Social Integration Programme) stage 3 completed or a pre-test score of 61 or more. Only scores valid by the application deadline count
- CSU-TOPIK (the school's own Korean test) has one printed date, 4 November 2026, before round 2 opens; no later date is printed, so round 2 applicants should ask. Details go on the international notice board
- SCHOOL OF GLOBAL STUDIES: freshmen need no Korean score, but must take one year of intensive Korean after entry. Transfers to the School of Global Studies meet the same Korean rule as other departments
- ENGLISH: no English track and no English-taught major is printed, and no English score is accepted at this level. The interview is held in Korean
- Selection: documents (application, Korean score, portfolio where the department asks) on a pass or fail basis, then an interview worth 100 points (Korean ability, motivation, study conditions). 70 points or more passes
- Interviews: face to face for applicants in Korea, by phone or video for applicants abroad; the time is e-mailed. Arts and physical education departments may hold their own interview or a practical test
- Units marked "school" (Global Studies, Bio-Medi, Age-Tech, Life-Care and some others) admit to the school in year 1 and assign the major from year 2. Majors of the School of Global Studies may be added or changed
- After entry: no leave of absence and no change of major in the first year (freshmen and transfers). 17 to 19 credits a semester
- TO GRADUATE (general departments): TOPIK 4 or higher, filed with the International Affairs Team, and 6 credits of Korean general courses for international students in the first year. School of Global Studies: the minimum credits only
- Credits to graduate: School of Global Studies 110; general departments 130; Law and the College of IT Convergence 140; Architecture (5-year) 160. Transfers may need more than the remaining semesters to meet graduation rules
- A higher TOPIK result earned after you apply counts for the admission scholarship only if you hand it in before the interview
- Dates may change, and extra rounds may be held depending on recruitment in each country (guide). Orientation 2 March 2027, compulsory; enter Korea before classes start
- TUITION FOR THIS ROW: Engineering band, from semester 2 (2026 rates; 2027 may change). First semester 4,302,800 (reason not printed; no entrance fee named).
