Published by Chungbuk National University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Online application at Jinhak Apply and the graduate checklist (Form 1) Apply
• Statement of purpose and study plan (Form 1-1)
• Consent to access academic records (Form 2)
• Affidavit of financial support (Form 3, 3-2 or 3-3) and a bank balance certificate of 16,000,000 won
• Recommendation from your previous university adviser
• Reference from your prospective Chungbuk adviser (Form 3-1), uploaded to the application
• Bachelor's degree or expected-graduation certificate and full transcript, apostilled or consular-verified; a PhD applicant adds the master's
• Proof of your parents' nationality and your family relationship
• Copy of your passport (applicants from one country named in the guide send the passport used for travel abroad), and your residence card if you live in Korea
• Language certificate, valid until the term starts
• Fine Arts and Design: portfolio of up to 10 pieces in an A4 binder, with Form 4
• Original academic and family relationship documents, submitted by post or in person

THE ORIGINALS MUST ARRIVE by post or by hand at the Office of International Affairs (N10, room 151): by 6 Nov 2026 (round 1) or 11 Dec 2026 (round 2), 18:00. Without them you are not screened.

SPRING 2027 GUIDE IS OUT (posted 1 Oct 2026). Two rounds: apply 12 to 30 Oct or 23 Nov to 11 Dec 2026, by 18:00. Results from about 21 Dec or 22 Jan; the semester starts 2 Mar 2027.

The fee is 50,000 won (USD 50).

BANK BALANCE: 16,000,000 won. In Korea: your own Korean account. From abroad: yours or a parent's. A guarantee from your adviser (Form 3-2) or Chungbuk (Form 3-3) can stand in.

Originals plus a translation, or notarised originals. Email, copies and faxes are not accepted.

Language scores must still be valid after 2 March 2027. A final Chungbuk Korean Language Program completion certificate may follow in February.

All requirements

• You and both parents are non-Korean and you finished schooling equivalent to Korea's
• A bachelor's for a master's or combined programme; a master's for a PhD. Expected graduates may apply
• CONTACT A PROFESSOR FIRST (mandatory): by 12 Oct 2026, 18:00 for round 1 or 23 Nov 2026, 18:00 for round 2, by email, phone or a department visit. Their reference (Form 3-1) is uploaded with the application
• Language: TOPIK 3, or TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 601 or New TEPS 327, or citizenship of one of the 7 English-speaking countries listed in the guide, or your adviser's reference
• Documents only, 100%, with no interview by the international office. Departments may still talk to you
• To graduate you will need TOPIK 4, or TOEFL iBT 69, IELTS 6.0, TEPS 600 or TOEIC 650
• Chungbuk accepts English to apply. Ask your department which language it teaches in
• You may also qualify if you completed all schooling equivalent to Korea's elementary, secondary, and higher education abroad.
• Any language certificate must be valid until the first semester begins.
• For the non-Korean parent route, you and your parents must have acquired nationality before starting high school.
• You must meet the nationality requirement before the application deadline.
• If you do not submit the original final documents before admission, your admission will be canceled.
• If you already have a visa and live in Korea, only a domestic bank balance certificate is accepted.
• Domestic applicants with a visa must show KRW 16,000,000, or KRW 8,000,000 for enrolled CBNU students entering higher degree courses.
