What can I study?

Published by Chungnam National University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form printed from the Jinhak site after applying online; study plan (Form 2); language proof, valid at the online deadline and issued before the document deadline
- Freshmen: high school graduation certificate and transcript showing subject names. Transfers: university graduation or completion (or expected) certificate and transcript with credits or hours
- Proof of schooling: apostille, consular confirmation or, for China, a CHSI report. Not needed if your last school is in Korea; expected graduates file it after graduating
- ID copies of you and both parents showing nationality; family relation certificate issued within 1 year (China: hukou or kinship notarial certificate); passport copy; ARC copy if you live in Korea
- Financial support pledge (Form 3) when a parent sponsors; bank balance certificate original; sponsor's employment or business certificate (not needed if the bank certificate is in your own name)
- Fine Art: a portfolio of at least 5 works on CD or USB. Korean high school graduates: the school record. Uzbekistan: renew to a new passport whose number starts with "FA"
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON: an original Korean or overseas bank certificate in the sponsor's (or your own) name, frozen until 30 March 2027, or issued within the application period if not frozen. Filed by 20 November 2026.
More money may be asked at the visa or certificate-of-admission stage because of exchange rates.
Application fee 60,000 won or USD 50, online fee included. No refund, except part of it after an accepted advance report of force majeure (natural disaster, hospital stay). No fee waiver is printed. No entrance fee is printed.
Results: 30 December 2026, 15:00, on the admissions site (log in with your application number and birth date); there is no individual notice.
Tuition bill from 4 January 2027, 10:00; pay 5 to 8 January (09:00 to 16:00) at a Hana or Woori Bank counter, or into your own virtual account from any Korean bank. Admission certificate January to February 2027.
From abroad: transfer to the CNU account (details sent to you) at KRW 1,400 = USD 1 (may change), plus USD 100 for bank fees on both sides; any overpayment is refunded later.
Expected graduates file the graduation certificate and its schooling proof (apostille, consular confirmation or CHSI report) with the Office of International Affairs by 12 February 2027, or the admission can be cancelled.
Schooled in China where CHSI issues no report (vocational high schools): the guide prints other routes, such as a local education authority diploma with an apostille, or the school's own diploma confirmed by the province plus an apostille.
If your bill is 0 won (a full scholarship), you must still take the bill to a Hana or Woori Bank counter in the payment window, or you are not registered.
Dormitory: hall 2, two-person rooms, 263 places for international men and women, limited, by request on the application. Residents listed 19 January 2027; fees paid 18 to 19 March 2027. No 2027 fee is printed.
Dormitory residents must hand in the required papers (a TB certificate, a photo and so on) before moving in, or they cannot move in.

All requirements
- You AND both parents are foreign nationals, all since before you started the equivalent of Korean high school. If any of you holds Korean nationality you cannot apply. Divorce or death papers if they apply
- FRESHMEN: high school graduates in or outside Korea, including February 2027 graduates. A GED pass, homeschooling and cyber learning are NOT accepted
- TRANSFERS: year 2 after 1 year at a four-year university, year 3 after 2 years, or a junior college degree for either (finished by end of February 2027). Clothing and Textiles and Food and Nutrition take freshmen only
- KOREAN, one of: TOPIK 3; level 4 completed in the CNU International Language Education Center regular course; or a pass in CNU's own Korean test (a TOPIK substitute)
- Korean Language and Literature: TOPIK 4 or CNU course level 5. Public Administration, Economics, Business Administration, Food and Nutrition: TOPIK 4, CNU level 4 or the CNU test. Dance: TOPIK 4 only
- CNU KOREAN TEST: register 12 October 2026, 09:00, to 16 October, 17:00; test 1 November 2026, 13:00 to 17:00 (seated by 12:40), building E1-1 room 101; fee 20,000 won; questions +82-42-821-8809
- Admits with TOPIK 3, CNU level 4 or the CNU test must reach TOPIK 4 before graduating; the CNU test does not count where a department makes TOPIK a graduation rule
- Scores with no printed expiry count only if taken on or after 20 November 2024; TOPIK IBT counts. TOPIK 108th sitting takers may apply with the ticket and must send the score by 10 December 2026, 18:00, or fail
- Most lectures are in Korean; some courses are in English (ask the department). The School of International Studies teaches its majors in English to applicants who submit an English score
- Selection: an evaluation of major aptitude, 7 to 14 December 2026, mostly interviews (usually in person in Korea, by video or phone from abroad); some units review documents. Pass mark: an average of 60 out of 100 from 2 evaluators
- A valid Korean visa on the evaluation day makes you an applicant in Korea, and missing your interview then means a fail. Bring the admission ticket and ID; arrive 30 minutes early. Place and time come by e-mail
- No visa by the start of the semester can cancel the admission. If a visa refusal stops you entering, registration can be cancelled before the semester starts; after that a full refund may not be possible
- No fixed quota. Any unit not listed in the guide is not recruiting on this track
- Apply to ONE unit only: two applications on this track (even to the same unit) disqualify you. Once submitted, the application cannot be cancelled and the unit cannot be changed
- Admitted freshmen cannot take a leave of absence in their first semester. CNU does not allow enrolment at two schools: leave any other university before entry
- CNU cannot issue the certificate of admission if the original schooling proof (apostille, consular confirmation or CHSI report) and the original financial papers were not filed in the document period; you then apply at the embassy alone
- Applicants already in Korea who change or extend their status: the original apostille or consular confirmation must be issued within 3 months of that application, so you may need a fresh one after admission
