What can I study?

Published by Chonnam National University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Online application form, printed and signed, and the personal affairs record Apply
• Chonnam forms 1 to 6: financial guarantee, education background, unusual academic circumstances, release of records, nationality, personal information consent Forms
• Language certificate: TOPIK, an English test, or a Chonnam institute certificate. A copy is allowed
• High school graduation or expected-graduation certificate, with an apostille, consular verification or CHSI report
• High school transcript for every year, showing the years of study
• Notarised translation of a family relations or birth certificate showing both parents and everyone's nationality, issued within six months
• Copies of both parents' passports
• Your passport copy, valid for six more months
• Alien registration card, if you are in Korea
• Bank balance certificate of 16,000,000 won or more, or a scholarship certificate

ORIGINALS ONLY, on A4, in the listed order. Copies, scans and email are refused.

DOCUMENTS MUST ARRIVE by the deadline, by post or in person. Papers that miss round one move to round two automatically.

Names, birth dates and passport numbers must match your passport exactly on every document.

The fee is 70,000 and is not refunded. Nothing you send is returned.

All requirements

• You and both parents hold non-Korean nationality, from before you began the equivalent of Korean high school. Dual Korean nationals and stateless people cannot apply
• You finish high school before term. Qualification exams, home schooling and cyber learning are NOT accepted
• Proof of TOPIK 3 or Chonnam institute level 3, OR an English score: TOEFL iBT 4.0 (80 before 21 January 2026), IELTS 5.5, New TEPS 290, CEFR B2 or TOEIC 700
• NO TOPIK 4 BY A MONTH BEFORE TERM? You join a compulsory 36-credit Korean programme on the Yeosu campus. Its credits count toward your degree
• Judged 50% on language and 50% on grades, from your documents. Some departments interview, in person or online
• A bank balance of 16,000,000 won or more in your or a parent's name, issued within 30 days of applying, or a scholarship certificate
• First-semester scholarships: full tuition at TOPIK 5 or more, Tuition 2 waived at TOPIK 4. Two terms at Chonnam's Korean institute to level 4 waive half of Tuition 2
• Freshmen cannot take leave in their first semester
• Cultural Tourism Management on the Yeosu campus accepts TOPIK 2 or Chonnam institute level 2
