What do I need?
- Application form (form 1) with 1 photo; self-introduction and study plan (form 2). The 2025 form PDF on the admission page offers a special course and the four terms
- Graduation certificate and transcript of your last school (high school or higher), original. Temporary or expected-graduation certificates are not accepted, except Japan (final certificate within 8 weeks of the start)
- One of: apostilled schooling proof; schooling proof confirmed by the Korean consulate in your country or your country's mission in Korea; or the Chinese CHSI or CDGDC verification original
- Family relation certificate and birth certificate, original: papers proving your and your parents' nationality and your relation. Passport copies of you and your parents
- Printed for Chinese nationals: the hukou showing the family and the resident ID card copies; if your hukou is separate from your family's, a notarised kinship certificate
- Family-paper examples the guide prints by country: hukou or kinship notarisation (China); SO HO KHAU or GIAY KHAI SINH (Vietnam); Kartu Keluarga (Indonesia); Jomma Kagoj or Jomma Certificate (Bangladesh); kinship certificate (Mongolia)
- Also printed: Family Certificate (Pakistan, Sri Lanka); birth certificate (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Thailand); Janma Dalda (Nepal); Ein Taung Su Sa Yone (Myanmar); PSA birth or marriage certificate (Philippines)
- Bank balance certificate (study-expense deposit confirmation), original, issued within 30 days; parents' employment certificate and annual income certificate
- TOPIK score report if you have one. Translation confirmation (one per applicant). A checklist printed, ticked and filed with the papers
BANK BALANCE: the guide asks a bank balance certificate (study-expense deposit confirmation) issued within 30 days but prints NO general amount.
The one amount printed is a country rule, copied whole: "베트남 국적 어학 연수생(D-4-1 비자 신청자)은 사증 및 사증발급인정서 발급 신청 시, 재정 능력 입증을 위해 8,000,000원 이상의 유학경비 예치확인서(은행 잔고증명서) 원본을 제출하여야 합니다."
Its second sentence: "해당 잔고증명서는 베트남에 있는 하나은행에서 발급받아야 하며, 예치금액·유학경비 지급 정지 사실·지급 정지 기간이 명시되어야 합니다." (issued by Hana Bank in Vietnam, stating the sum, the freeze and its period).
NO APPLICATION FEE IS PRINTED in the 2026 guide (Korean or English) or on the IEEI pages. NO DORMITORY FEE is printed for course students; the degree guides price the halls at 530,000 to 700,000 won (see the degree rows).
Tuition 3,800,000 won and insurance 100,000 won are printed for 1 year; the undated KLC leaflet still prints 700,000 won x 4 terms = 2,800,000 won a year (older; not used).
After entry you must file proof of your address; breaking the institute's rules can mean a warning or expulsion (guide). Papers needed can change with your nationality and status.

All requirements
- Foreigners with high school graduation or an equal or higher schooling (2026 guide). Selection on papers and an interview (video or phone; may be skipped): a clear purpose, no visa problem, enough money, study ability
- 2026 TERMS, printed as planned periods (교육 예정 기간): spring 9 March to 18 May; summer 8 June to 14 August; fall 7 September to 20 November; winter 7 December 2026 to 18 February 2027. 150 hours each (3 hours x 5 days x 10 weeks)
- NO 2027 TERMS, NO APPLICATION WINDOWS AND NO APPLICATION FEE ARE PRINTED (checked 30 October 2026: the IEEI notice board's newest post is 10 August 2026). Ask the institute when the next intake closes
- Fees (2026 guide): tuition 3,800,000 won for 1 year; insurance 100,000 won for 1 year (private insurance until National Health Insurance starts); total 3,900,000 won. No per-term fee is printed
- Pay by transfer to the school's Nonghyup Bank accounts printed in the guide, in your own name; a transfer in another name must be confirmed with the institute by phone or in person
- HOW IT RUNS: papers in; document and interview review; first result; pay tuition; the school then files for the visa issuance confirmation (printed for China, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Mongolia) or sends the admission letter (others)
- Then the visa at the Korean mission, your flight, orientation and the start of classes. Textbooks: Seoul National University Korean 1A to 6B. Culture trips, adaptation classes, Korean-law classes, a TOPIK class and mentoring
- Completion certificate: 70% attendance or more and an average of 70 or more in the regular exams (mid-term 40%, final 40%, class attitude 20%)
- Refund: full tuition back if the visa is not issued before the term starts or you cannot come for personal reasons; you pay the overseas transfer charge. False or forged papers cancel the admission; papers are not returned
- Not paying tuition in the set period cancels the final pass. A visa that immigration refuses, or a refused change of status, can cancel the admission (2026 guide, Ⅸ)
- Moving on to a Daeshin degree: the entry bar is TOPIK 3 or DSU TOPIK 3, KIIP 3 or Sejong intermediate 1 (TOPIK 2 for arts and sports). The 2027 guide also lists 1 year of a Korean course for course students in Korea (unless TOPIK 2)
- The degree guide's visa-change table asks 1 year of Korean course completed (or TOPIK 2 if under 1 year) when moving from D-4 to a degree. Completing this course alone is not printed as meeting the TOPIK 3 bar
- KIIP: the institute is the Ministry of Justice's KIIP operator for its area ("경북 1거점 일반운영기관"); KIIP classes are free (books extra) and apply on socinet.go.kr, +82-53-810-0812
