What do I need?
- Application form (institute form) with a photo, 2 photos 3.5 x 4.5 cm, passport copy
- Final school certificate, notarised, original: with an apostille or Korean consular confirmation (leaflet). China: CHSI (学信网) certificates as the page sets out for graduates, students and school leavers
- China, international high school graduates: the school's own diploma, an apostille, and a copy of the school's licence (설립허가증 or 민판학교판학허가증). Degrees earned outside China: apostille or consular confirmation
- Bank balance certificate, original (see the notes)
- Financial support papers, printed for "법무부 고시국가 21개국 중 중국을 제외한 국가": family relation (or birth) certificate, parents' passport (or ID) copies, parents' employment and monthly income certificates
- The employment certificate shows post and period; the income certificate shows monthly pay. Parents who run a business: a business registration certificate and an income certificate
- China: a 호구부 copy; a bank certificate in a parent's name needs notarised kinship proof or the family 호구부
- A Korean guarantor letter, only if asked
THE BANK BALANCE IS 10,000,000 WON OR MORE in your own name (institute page and leaflet), kept during the course. An older undated page asked USD 10,000 held 6 months.
As printed for named countries: "베트남: 한국 원화 1,000만 원 이상이 예치된 현지 소재 국내 금융기관 발행 유학경비예치증명서 또는 은행잔고증명서 제출(3개월 이상 잔액 유지 필수)".
"우즈베키스탄: 한국 원화 1,000만 원 이상이 예치된 현지 소재 국내 금융기관 발행 은행잔고증명서 제출(3개월 이상 잔액 유지 필수)".
In English: for those two countries, a certificate of 10,000,000 won or more from a Korean bank branch in the country, held 3 months or more (Vietnam may also file a study-fund deposit certificate).
China, as printed: "예치금이 최소 6개월 이상 정기예금(定期) 상태인 경우에만 인정", issued within 1 month of applying.
Insurance is compulsory; the leaflet says group insurance is in the term fee. Dormitory: women may apply for the campus dormitory; no cost for Korean-course students is printed.

All requirements
- High school graduates or the equal, foreigners and overseas Koreans, any nationality or gender. Apply by e-mail, post or in person; papers review and interview, then admission, payment and the visa papers

- Late 2026 terms: dates not printed on the pages we could read (the institute notice board is for members only). The leaflet gives only months: fall classes September to November, winter December to February
- Fees (2026 leaflet and the institute page): application 100,000 won, not refundable; tuition 1,500,000 won a term, textbooks and group insurance included (leaflet). Older undated pages said 60,000 and 1,400,000 won
- D-4 from abroad, as printed: "몽골 국적 학생은 4학기(1년), 그 외 국가 학생은 2학기(6개월)를 한 번에 등록해야 본국에서 학생비자(D-4) 신청이 가능". Holders of a valid visa may register for 1 term
- Refunds: none in principle; for illness, injury, disaster or the like, in full before the visa is issued (or before the term starts for courses without a visa), none after. Apply in person at the office
- For a refund bring a copy of a Korean bank account in your name, ID (passport or alien registration card), and a power of attorney if someone else collects it
- New students from abroad who got a D-4 through the institute get no refund for their first 2 terms
- Pay to the institute's Hana Bank account printed on its admissions page (holder 동덕여자대학교 한국어교육원, SWIFT KOEXKRSE), in the applicant's English name. Paid in another name: post the applicant's name and a receipt copy
- More papers may be asked during review; papers are not returned. Forged or false papers cancel admission and the fees are not refunded
- Benefits (leaflet): class-leader, attendance and director's scholarships (amounts not printed), textbook support, group insurance, culture trips; women may apply for the campus dormitory
- Going on to a Dongduk bachelor's: institute graduates need 10,000,000 won in the bank instead of 20,000,000 (undergraduate guide)
