A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- Division of Humanities: Korean Language and Literature, Korean History, Creative Writing
- Division of Global Regional Studies: English, Japanese Language and Japanese Studies, European Studies, Chinese Language and Chinese Studies
- Korean Language and Culture (한국어문화전공)
Published by Dongduk Women's University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form printed after filing on UwayApply; self-introduction and study plan (typed online); colour photo 3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within 3 months, light background (uploaded)
- Freshmen: high school diploma (or expected) and transcript, originals. Transfers: university or junior college diploma and transcript, or an enrolment or 2-year completion certificate and transcript
- Each school paper with an apostille (member countries) or a local Korean consular confirmation, original, plus a Korean or English notarised copy. Transfers: the transcript must show credits or weekly hours for every course
- Chinese nationals, as printed: "아포스티유 혹은 중국 교육부 인증(学信网) 혹은 현지 한국영사인증 원본". Others: an apostille, or the Korean consulate's "재외교육기관 확인서" or "영사확인"
- Passport and ID card copies of you and both parents. If a parent's passport cannot be filed, as printed: "소재지 공안국 파출소에서 발행한 친족관계증명서의 영문번역 공증본"
- A foreign government paper equal to a Korean family register; parents' divorce or death papers (notarised) if relevant. Chinese nationals: every 호구부 copy if the family is split across them, and a notarised English kinship certificate
- Alien registration card copy (applicants living in Korea only)
- Sponsor's bank balance certificate original (see the notes) and the study expense pledge (downloaded when you apply)
- Korean proof: a TOPIK 3 (arts and PE 2) report, a level-3 Korean course certificate, a Korean junior college diploma or 2-year completion certificate, or Dongduk's Korean test pass
- Arts and PE applicants: the performance materials for the major (see that row's requirements)
THE BANK BALANCE IS 20,000,000 WON OR MORE (10,000,000 won for those who finished Dongduk's Korean Language Institute), issued within 30 days of applying, kept until entry and for at least 6 months.
The certificate is in your own name in principle; a parent is accepted with proof of the relation. The Fall 2026 guide lists it with the application papers; the older 2026 leaflet says after admission. Ask.
Application fee 150,000 won. Refunded only if the school is at fault, after a natural disaster, or as a share of leftover admission income. No changes or cancellation after filing.
Results come on the office site with no individual notice; admitted students print the admission letter and tuition bill themselves and pay by bank transfer in the window, or the place is given up.
The tuition bill can be printed only during the results period, so print it early. Admitted students asked for more papers are told separately (in person or registered mail).
Expected graduates, and those who filed an enrolment or completion certificate, file the final diploma or completion certificate original before entry (the guide's papers note also says after entry: ask).
Names that differ between papers need a court or embassy paper proving you are one person. Admitted to more than one university: register at one only. False papers cancel admission; fees paid are not returned.
The 2026 leaflet's yearly plan: spring intake applications in October and December, results November and January, classes from March; fall intake applications April and June, classes from September.
Fall 2026 guide misprints: round 2 results "2026. 06. 11" in section 12 (the schedule and the board say 2 July); round 1 results "2025. 05. 14" in the schedule (section 12 and the board say 14 May 2026).
Last year's Spring 2026 timing, for planning only: round 1 online 29 September to 24 October 2025; round 2 26 November to 4 December 2025; an extra round 31 December 2025 to 8 January 2026.
Dormitory: in the first year a set number of international students get a room for 1 year, later limited places. Apply on the university notice board about 2 weeks before entry, first come first served. Dormitory office: +82-2-940-4904 (hall 1), +82-2-940-4913 (hall 2).
Dormitory fee (2026 leaflet): semester plus vacation (25 weeks), 4-person room A 1,917,000 won, room B 2,046,500 won. An older support page (2025 basis) gives the off-campus 2nd hall at 3,725,000 won a year plus 200,000 deposit.

All requirements
- NEWEST GUIDE IS FALL 2026 (round 2, notice of 4 June 2026). No Spring 2027 guide was on the international board on 21 October 2026; last year the first spring round opened on 29 September
- You and both parents are foreign nationals. A former Korean national counts only if the foreign nationality came before high school. Dual nationals count as Korean
- FRESHMEN: a regular high school diploma (or one due before entry) after 12 years of school; all school in one foreign country counts. Foreign school-leaving exams, homeschooling and online schooling are NOT accepted; Korea's 검정고시 is
- 12 YEARS by the Korean system: school in 2+ countries counts if the last 3 years were in an 11-year system; a 10-year system needs the missing years made up at a university there. A gap of up to one semester from moving is accepted
- The diploma must be held before the entry date (one month later is accepted where the school year ends a month later). Only semesters with grades count; repeated years do not
- A skipped year or early graduation allowed by your country's school law counts toward the 12 years only if your transcript or another record proves it; a year skipped when changing schools does not
- 3RD-YEAR TRANSFER: a 4-year university degree, 2 years at a 4-year university with 66 credits, or a junior college diploma. 4TH-YEAR TRANSFER: a 3-year university degree abroad, or a 3-year course finished with 99 credits
- KOREAN (one of): TOPIK 3 (arts and PE: 2); level 3 of a Korean course in Korea or abroad; a Korean junior college diploma or 2 years at a Korean 4-year university; or Dongduk's own Korean test. TOPIK 4 before graduation
- BILINGUAL TRACK: the guide prints "모든 전공 이중 언어 트랙 가능" under its whole table of units; the 2026 leaflet names only the International College ("국제대학은 이중언어 과정 동시 모집"). Ask if your major has it
- Bilingual applicants: the guide says Dongduk "may admit" applicants it approves; the 2026 leaflet says bilingual applicants are exempt from the Korean rule
- Selection: documents 100% (humanities, social, sciences, Curatorial Studies); arts and PE: documents 80% plus a performance review 20% (portfolio or video). Under 60 of 100 in either fails
- Apply to one major only, online on UwayApply. No interview or test date is printed. Places per major are not printed
- Dongduk is a women's university. The 2026 leaflet says "International College 및 대학원은 남학생 지원 가능" (men may apply to the International College and the graduate school)
- TUITION a semester (2026 leaflet, posted December 2025, no year printed): humanities and social 3,140,000; sciences and PE 3,929,000; engineering 4,584,000; arts 4,584,000; pharmacy 4,641,000 won
- Which major is in which band is NOT printed in any guide the school posts. Tuition rose 2.85% in January 2026, after the leaflet; the new figures are not printed for international students. Ask the office
- First semester: an entrance cost of 154,000 won is counted into tuition (leaflet: "학부 첫학기 입학 실비용 154,000원 수업료에 산입")
- Another route: foreigners with 12 years of school abroad and TOPIK 3 (arts and PE 2) may use the admissions office's 재외국민과 외국인 admission (Spring 2027 round ran 6 to 10 July 2026, closed; fee 110,000 won, practical-test units 150,000)
