What can I study?
- Social Welfare
- Counseling and Psychotherapy (상담심리학과)
- Open Major (자유전공학부): freshmen only, no transfer; you move to your major from year 2
Published by Dongseo University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application forms (Form 1 to Form 5), originals. Form 1 prints once the online application is complete; Forms 2 to 6 print after the fee is paid
- Health check confirmation (Form 6), original or certified copy. Another format is fine if it is an original signed or stamped by the hospital or doctor. A tuberculosis test and 2 measles vaccine doses are required
- Final education certificate, certified copy. Freshmen: high school graduation (or expected) certificate. Transfers: high school graduation and university enrolment certificates, or the college graduation (or expected) certificate
- Transcript, certified copy. Freshmen: high school transcript. Transfers: a transcript showing grades and credits for every year, for credit recognition
- For the certificate and transcript: an Apostille or consular confirmation, plus a notarised Korean or English translation if in another language. Graduates of schools in China file the Chinese Ministry of Education verification report
- Passport copies of you and both parents (Chinese nationals: your passport copy plus ID card copies of you and both parents)
- Family relation certificate, original or notarised, with a notarised English version (Chinese nationals: household register and kinship certificate; others: birth or family relation certificate). Add divorce or death papers if they apply
- Bank balance certificate, original, in your or a parent's name, equal to 16,000,000 KRW, in USD or KRW only, issued within 30 days before you hand in the papers
- Proof of employment or income for you or a parent, original; if you cannot file it, a separate plan for paying your study costs. Self-funded students file their own employment or income certificate
- Language score report, copy, valid on the application closing date. Korean track: TOPIK 3 or higher or an equivalent completion certificate. English track: TOEFL iBT 3.5 (old scale 59), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2 or NEW TEPS 202
- Copy of both sides of your alien registration card, if you live in Korea and hold one
THE BANK BALANCE IS A CERTIFICATE EQUAL TO 16,000,000 KRW: original, in your or a parent's name, in USD or KRW only, filed WITH the application.
The bank certificate must be issued within 30 days before you hand in your papers. One that prints a validity period must stay valid until you enter.
As the guide prints it (PDF p.8, bank certificate row): applicants from Uzbekistan may file only a balance certificate issued by KDB Bank.
The English website (undated) still asks for a balance of over US$18,000; the dated guide's 16,000,000 KRW is shown here.
For the visa you need proof of finances and your diploma again; if you are staying in Korea, the proof of finances must come from a bank in Korea. Keep at least 2 spare sets of your education and bank papers.
Application fee 60,000 KRW. It can be waived for applicants entering under an agreement between Dongseo and an overseas university or institution. If it is not paid within the period the application is not accepted. No refunds.
Tuition is printed as two figures: a first-semester amount and a lower amount from the second semester (Fall 2026 rates, may change by school policy). The guide prints no separate entrance fee line for undergraduates.
Pay after the result: by the end of January 2027 (rounds 1 and 2) or mid February 2027 (round 3); admitted students staying in Korea may pay until February. Paying from abroad adds a Korean bank charge. The admission letter follows payment.
Papers go in by hand or by registered post. Stick the printed cover sheet on the envelope, or write your application number, department and name on it (guide PDF p.10).
Expected graduates must hand in the final certificate before entry, or the admission is cancelled. Education documents take time: the Chinese Ministry of Education report takes about 30 days.
Vocational high school graduates in China who cannot get that report follow a separate table in the guide (PDF p.12): by school type, a graduation certificate with an Apostille, and for some an education office confirmation too.
Orientation is in late February 2027 and the semester starts on 2 March 2027. Results are given to each applicant individually.
Visa: the university does not issue it. Abroad, apply at the Korean consulate with the standard admission letter. D-4 holders must change to D-2 before classes start; D-10 holders change status themselves at the immigration office.
Dormitory, a semester of 16 weeks (2026 rates, may change): Global Village two-person room 850,000 won; International House 1 three-person 600,000, two-person 660,000; International House 2 two-person 800,000. Vacation 550,000 won.
A dormitory place is decided after review and is not guaranteed. New students get a random room and roommate in the first semester. Pay within one week of moving in, after getting the bill at the dormitory office.
The dormitory site (undated, table headed 2026) also lists Student Apartment rooms (single 700,000 won, two-person 660,000) and a compulsory meal fee: 400,000 won for 80 days in Spring 2026, one meal a day. The guide prints neither; ask.
Health insurance: National Health Insurance is compulsory and starts automatically once you register as a foreigner. Until then (about 2 months) new students need private insurance. Without either, scholarship benefits can be cancelled.

- Only scores valid on the application date count. Already in Korea without a score? If you can file one before the February registration period, you may apply with the other papers first, but only after agreeing it with the office
- Selection: a review of your papers, grades and language level. An interview or written test is held only if the unit needs one (a video interview or a written test of academic ability); you are contacted individually
- No cap on places. Units marked "no transfer" take freshmen only, and units marked "transfer only" take transfers only (see the majors list). The major cannot be changed after you apply

- ROUND 3 (25 to 29 January 2027) is only for applicants in a special programme with an overseas university or institution, or applicants already staying in Korea
- TUITION BANDS: the guide gives each unit a field and prints tuition by band, but does not say which unit pays which band. The amount shown follows the matching words; confirm yours with the office before you pay
