All requirements
- Foreigners in or outside Korea who want Korean language training (people who took Korean nationality included), with high school graduation or an equal level
- Already legally in Korea with no visa change needed: no schooling or age limit
- Steps: send the papers; document review (interview); selection; pay the application fee and tuition; the institute sends the admission letter; apply for the D-4-1 visa; placement test the week before classes
- 2026 terms: spring 3 March to 11 May; summer 1 June to 7 August; fall 31 August to 6 November; winter 30 November 2026 to 5 February 2027. Ten weeks, 200 hours each
- 2026 deadlines (results): spring 9 January (6 February); summer 10 April (8 May); fall 10 July (7 August); winter 16 October (6 November). Opening dates are not printed. NO 2027 TERMS were posted on 21 October 2026
- To pass a level: average 70 or more and 80% attendance (40 of 50 days); leaving class early 4 times counts as 1 absence. Below that you repeat the level; two failed terms in a row end re-registration
- An average of 90 or more with 90% attendance lets you sit a test to skip a level
- Three or more days of absence without notice are reported to immigration and the registration is cancelled
- Poor grades or attendance, or 3 or more breaches of community rules (dormitory life included), lead to expulsion
- Applicants of the 21 countries named by the Minister of Justice add a Korean guarantor's letter. The list, as printed: 가나, 나이지리아, 네팔, 몽골, 미얀마, 방글라데시, 베트남, 스리랑카, 우즈베키스탄, 우크라이나
- (list continued) 이란, 이집트, 인도, 인도네시아, 중국, 카자흐스탄, 키르기스스탄, 태국, 파키스탄, 페루, 필리핀. Papers differ by country: ask before you apply
- Finishing this course counts for Duksung degrees: 100% off first-semester tuition for undergraduates (Spring 2027 guide), and half the bank balance for the degree visa
- Term prizes for current trainees: 200,000 won (top scorer per level, average 90 or more) and 100,000 won (top scorer per class, average 80 or more), paid to those who register for the next term
- Only the higher prize is given if you win both; exchange students cannot get these prizes
