What do I need?

- Final school graduation certificate and transcript: originals, notarised and confirmed by the Korean consulate, or with an apostille. Schooling in China: a provincial verification report (about 20 to 30 days to issue)
- Family relation proof (notarised kinship certificate); a divorce or death certificate if it applies. A Chinese hukou copy is accepted with a notarised translation, plus a kinship certificate if your hukou differs from your parents'
- Bank balance proof, original (see notes); parents' job and income proof for the last year on the employer's own form with its contact and address (business registration copy if self-employed)
- ID copies of you and your parents (passport copies accepted); your passport copy; two passport photos, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within 6 months
THE BANK BALANCE IS 8,000,000 WON OR MORE, kept in a bank for 6 months or more, in your or a parent's name (original certificate).
NO APPLICATION FEE IS PRINTED on the course pages or the 2026 application form.
Fees: tuition 1,200,000 won a term, textbooks included, paid two terms at a time (2,400,000 won for 6 months); dormitory about 2,400,000 won for 6 months; insurance about 100,000 won a year. 2027 fees not posted.
The course pages do not name the visa type; the school's undergraduate guide calls GNU Korean course trainees D-4.

All requirements
- Foreigners and overseas Koreans with high school schooling or higher
- Four 10-week terms a year, 200 hours each (40 weeks and 800 hours a year): Monday to Friday, 4 hours a day, 09:00 to 12:50. Classes of about 15; a class may not open if it does not fill
- Six levels (1 to 6). A test every Friday and a final exam each term, plus a Korean culture programme
- 2026 terms: spring 4 March to 15 May; summer 20 May to 31 July; fall 2 September to 18 November; winter 23 November 2026 to 3 February 2027. The schedule may change
- 2026 deadlines (visa applicants / visa holders): spring 24 December 2025 / 18 February 2026; summer 11 March / 6 May; fall 22 June / 18 August; winter 9 September / 4 November 2026. Opening dates are not printed
- NO 2027 TERMS OR DEADLINES were posted on 19 October 2026 (course page, annual schedule page and notice board checked)
- New students pay tuition for two terms (6 months), 2,400,000 won, plus about 2,400,000 won for 6 months in the dormitory (weekend meals included) and about 100,000 won for a year of insurance
- Insurance is your own cost; after 6 months in Korea you join National Health Insurance automatically
- Steps: application and visa papers, review, admission and fee notice, payment, admission letter sent by post, visa at the Korean embassy, entry on a date agreed with the school, entrance ceremony and orientation
- If the visa is refused, the payment is refunded to your own account. Dollar transfers may come out different; any overpayment is refunded after entry. Fees not paid on time cancel the admission
- Course scholarships each term: top marks in each class in the weekly tests and final exam, 100,000 won; class leader, 100,000 won (may change with the budget). GNU is a TOPIK test centre
- Degree link: finishing level 3 or higher here is one of the Korean routes into GNU's Division of Global Interdisciplinary Studies. Trainees (D-4) moving up to a GNU degree need an 8,000,000 won balance, not 16,000,000
- The school's annual schedule page (undated) still shows older term dates; the course page's 2026 table is used here
