A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- Korean Language and Literature (M, D; TOPIK 3 only)
- History (M, D, I; TOPIK 3 only)
- Social Welfare (M, D; TOPIK 5 or IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80)
- Media School: AI Media Education, Media Communication (M, D; type A)
- International Studies, Culture Industry Management (M; TOPIK 4)
- Interdisciplinary: Chinese-Korean Translation (D, I; TOPIK 3 only)
- Interdisciplinary: Sustainable Development, major International Studies (D, I; type A)
Published by Hallym University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form, study plan (not for Medicine) and letter of consent, typed and printed (forms on the Global Engagement Center page; photo taken within 3 months)
- Bachelor's graduation (or expected) certificate, original, and the full transcript (all universities attended)
- Consultation logbook from a Hallym professor of your department; a recommendation letter from a professor of your former university if you studied elsewhere
- Language score report (valid; your department's rule); passport copy (photo page); ID photo for the admission letter and student card
- Family relation proof: a birth certificate (non-Chinese nationals); Chinese nationals: notarised English hukou or English kinship certificate
- Bank balance certificate (see the notes); alien registration card copy, front and back, if you live in Korea
- PhD adds: master's (expected) certificate and transcript, CV (form), thesis and journal paper abstracts (bring the papers to the interview). A professional master's without a thesis also needs a KCI paper or 6 extra credits
- PhD applicants with a professional master's and no thesis: the professor's recommendation needs its extra box ticked. The 6 extra credits are taken within 3 PhD semesters; the department committee may waive them for matching experience
- Optional: employment or career certificates, and licences or passes you hold (not the national medical licensing exam)
- Degrees from abroad need an apostille or consular confirmation. Degrees from China also need the English CHSI education ministry report (chsi.com.cn/en), even with consular confirmation
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 KRW OR MORE, in your or a parent's name, issued within 30 days of applying, frozen to 2 March 2027. Living in Korea: your own Korean bank account only. Hallym undergraduates moving up: 8,000,000 won.
If a Hallym professor funds you, the full scholarship including any monthly allowance must be written in the professor's recommendation letter (English guide).
International applicants pay no application fee. Results 3 December 2026 by e-mail (예정, tentative); the admission letter is planned for the end of January 2027 (예정).
Expected graduates send copies of the final certificate and transcript before the admission letter is issued, then the originals (apostilled or consular-confirmed) to the graduate school office by 5 March 2027.
The English guide adds: an expected-graduation certificate must show the exact month and date of graduation. The bank figure is printed as about 12,000 USD in both guides.
Scholarship forms (TA/RA and Scholarship A, full-time students only) go in from 3 to 10 December 2026. A student enrolled at another school at the same time files that school's enrolment certificate and gets no scholarship.
Teaching assistants must hold TOPIK 5, or for English-taught classes an English score at the admission level, and file a class-assistant log with the department office every month.
Dormitory (undergraduate guide and dorm office, 2026 rates): 684,000 to 1,296,000 won for the 4-month class period, meals extra.
