What do I need?
- Application form (download), with one colour ID photo (3.5 x 4.5 cm, jpg)
- Passport copy (photo page; pdf or jpg)
- Diploma or graduation certificate of your last school, with an apostille or Korean consular notarisation (issued within 6 months; from the country where the school is). Translate if not in Korean or English
- Bank balance certificate (see the notes); family or birth certificate if the account is a parent's
BANK: the how-to-apply page asks for a personal bank balance certificate "with at least USD 8,000" in one savings account; the visa page says "approx. USD 9,000–10,000". No won figure is printed. Both pages are undated.
Bank statements must be issued within 30 days of the visa application. Stocks, bonds or investments do not count. Already in Korea and changing to D-4-1: a Korean bank statement in your own name only.
Contacts: the 2025 brochure sends admission and visa questions to the Global Engagement Center (+82-33-248-1343, 1345, iao@hallym.ac.kr) and course questions to the center (+82-33-248-2974, klec@hallym.ac.kr).
Where the originals go: the how-to-apply page says to mail the original apostille to the Korean Language Education Center once accepted; the visa page (undated) sends all originals to the Global Engagement Center, where the 2025 brochure takes applications. Ask before posting.
Originals are not returned: the how-to-apply page suggests putting the apostille on a certified copy, not your only original. More papers may be asked; reasons for a rejection are not given.
D-4 visa: register for at least 2 semesters; countries that require 4 semesters need 4 (visa page, undated). The visa page lists +82-33-248-1346 and iao@hallym.ac.kr.
Housing (KLEC housing page, undated; minimum one semester, utilities included, no meals): hall 8, 2-person rooms with a bathroom, 11,000 won a day; hall 3, 3-person, 7,000 won a day; hall 1, 3-person, 6,000 won a day.
The dorm office prices hall 8 vacation stays at 11,000 won a night for students (2026 rates). International students get dorm priority and a 100% placement rate (housing page).

All requirements
- Non-Korean nationals or overseas Koreans who finished high school or higher (course page, undated)
- Terms (undated schedule page): spring March to May, summer June to August, fall September to November, winter December to February. Deadlines and placement test dates are shown as "-"
- NO 2026 OR 2027 TERM DATES OR WINDOWS are posted (checked 21 October 2026). The 2025 brochure printed 2025 terms only (spring from 17 March 2025)
- Fees: tuition 1,300,000 won a term (course page; also the 2025 brochure's 2025 rate). Once: 70,000 won application fee plus 130,000 won entrance fee, books and insurance included (2025 brochure; the course page shows 200,000 together)
- The 2025 brochure: a D-4 visa needs 2 terms or more, so the first payment is 2,800,000 won (2,600,000 tuition for 2 terms plus 200,000), in Korean won, in the student's name, by the school's official bill
- Refunds: 100% before classes, 70% before a third of the term, 50% before half, none after; the application fee is not refunded. A D-4 holder's refund request cancels the visa
- Refund page: the time counts in school days from the term start; bank fees and any discount are taken off the refund; exchange-rate gains or losses are yours
- Visa page: classes may be cancelled if too few students enrol (then a refund). Finances that cannot be checked can cancel the admission through a visa refusal
- Leads to Hallym degrees: finishing (or studying at) intermediate 2 here meets the undergraduate Korean rule (Spring 2027 guide)
- The brochure lists scholarships for top grades and attendance; no amounts are printed
