What can I study?

Published by Hannam University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Application typed on the application site (ibsi.hnu.kr); academic record check consent and study record form (school forms)
• High school graduation (or expected) certificate and transcript, originals, each with an apostille or consular confirmation (China: the original English CHSI certificate). Korean schools abroad recognised by the ministry are exempt
• Immigration entry and exit record, original (not needed if you never entered Korea); passport copy; alien registration card copy (residents of Korea only)
• Language score, original: TOPIK, or the Hannam institute test or level certificate; Linton Global School: TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS or NEW TEPS
• A government family document naming you, both parents and their nationality: birth (or family relation) certificate plus both parents' ID copies. Divorce or death proof if that applies
• China: a hukou copy listing the whole family plus both parents' ID copies, or a kinship certificate if you are registered apart from your parents

THE BANK BALANCE IS USD 18,000 OR MORE, in your or a family member's name: an original issued in the month you apply for the visa. It is needed after tuition is paid, for the visa, not with the application.

Application fee 85,000 won, which includes a 5,000 won application site fee. No waiver is printed.

The Spring 2027 guide prints no entrance fee figure (its refund note only says tuition "including the entrance fee"). Ask the admissions office.

Tuition is paid at any KB Kookmin Bank branch in the window; not paying means giving up the place. The certificate of admission follows payment (round 1 from 23 November 2026, round 2 from 1 February 2027).

Apply for the visa yourself. Residents of Korea visit the Glocal Cooperation Office. Student numbers and course registration are announced separately.

National Health Insurance is compulsory (you pay the premium), and so is the school's student group medical insurance.

Dormitory: the international houses Civili House 1 (men, 112 places) and 2 (women, 138 places) take undergraduates, graduates and exchange students (undated page). No fee is printed.

All requirements

• You and BOTH parents are foreign nationals, and you finished (or will finish) high school in Korea or abroad. Dual nationals count as Korean citizens under the Nationality Act
• Schooling earned through an equivalency exam (in Korea or abroad), homeschooling or cyber learning is NOT accepted
• Abroad, grades 1 to 6 count as primary, 7 to 9 as middle and 10 to 12 (13) as high school. A full course in one foreign system counts even if it is under 12 years; schooling in mixed systems needs 12 years or more
• Exceptions: a shortfall of up to one semester (6 months) from moving between school systems, or a shortfall from legal grade skipping or early graduation
• KOREAN (every major except the Linton Global School), one of: TOPIK 3 or higher (paper or IBT); a pass on the Hannam Korean institute's own TOPIK-level test; level 3 or higher completed at that institute
• Or TOPIK 2, if you then complete 300 hours of Korean at the Hannam institute within a year of entry. Three or more years at a Korean middle or high school (not an international or foreign school): file that school record instead
• Only scores valid on the document deadline count. The institute's own test for March 2027 entry was held on 1 October 2026 (fee 30,000 won); that sitting has passed
• LINTON GLOBAL SCHOOL (Global Business, Global Media and Culture), applicants from non-English-speaking countries, one of: TOEIC 850, TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 5.5, NEW TEPS 385. No score: an interview in person or online instead
• Every Linton applicant may also have a pass or fail interview. No interview date is printed. TOEFL is printed on the old 0 to 120 scale only; no figure is given for the new 1 to 6 scale
• Selection: documents 100%. Ties go to the overall grades, then the last semester's grades, at your final school. The school may also test your ability to study
• Closed to international applicants: the College of Education (six departments) and Nursing. All places are outside the quota; no numbers are printed
• Spring 2027 has one admission type only (both parents foreign). The Fall 2026 guide also had a type for 12 years of schooling abroad
• Expected graduates of an overseas school must file the graduation certificate (apostilled or consular-confirmed) by March 2027, or admission is cancelled and tuition is not refunded
• If the visa is refused or you cannot enter Korea in the set period, admission is cancelled. Results are posted only on ibsi.hnu.kr; no one is told separately
