What do I need?

• Application form and declaration
• Personal statement and study plan, written online in English or Korean
• Bachelor's degree certificate (or expected graduation) and full transcript; PhD applicants add the master's. Apostille or consular authentication; CHSI or CDGDC for China; Korean originals with verification marks
• Optional GPA certificate on a 100-point scale or WES ICAP report (needed for the HISP scholarship)
• Passports of you and both parents (Chinese applicants: ID cards too), and a birth or family relationship certificate issued after 1 March 2026
• Optional TOPIK or IIE certificate; English test only for English-track departments
• Artwork verification for artwork departments; Hanyang alumni certificate if any; proof of giving up Korean nationality where it applies
• Type B applicants add an entry and exit record and apostilled certificates and transcripts from elementary, middle and high school

All requirements

• Type A: you and both parents are foreign nationals, held before the application window opened. Type B: anyone, Korean or foreign, who did all schooling from elementary school to the bachelor's outside Korea
• A bachelor's for a master's; a master's for a PhD. Provisional certificates are not accepted; expected graduates send the final certificate before the semester starts
• NO KOREAN SCORE TO APPLY. TOPIK 4, TOPIK IBT 4 or Hanyang IIE level 4 is needed to start classes, or leave of absence until met. Exempt with a supervising professor's exemption letter, in non-Korean-track departments and East Asian Studies
• English-track programmes (Korean Studies at GSIS, MBA KABS track) need TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 5.5 or CEFR B2; exempt with an English-speaking nationality or degree
• Selection is 100% documents (study plan, GPA, department criteria); departments may interview. Scores are never released
• Medicine needs a recommendation from a Hanyang professor; clinical majors a doctor's licence. The MBA GEM track is for native Chinese speakers only
• ERICA Design, Sports and Arts admits with TOPIK 4 take 120 hours of Korean at the ERICA institute at their own cost, unless they hold TOPIK 5 or IIE 5
