What do I need?
- Application form (form 1) and study plan with self-introduction (form 2), both from global.honam.ac.kr; personal data consent (form 3); two passport photos
- Final school record, high school or higher: diploma copy or graduation certificate original, and all-year transcripts, each with a notarised translation and apostille
- Bank balance certificate (8,000,000 won held six months or more); family relations certificate in English; ID copies of you and your parents; passport copy
- Alien registration card copy (residents of Korea only); entry and exit record if it applies
- Schooled in China: CHSI report (secondary education report for high school; record or verification report for college). Vocational graduates without one: diploma, transcripts, an education office confirmation, all apostilled
- Divorced parents: kinship and divorce certificates, originals. A deceased parent: death certificate, original
THE BANK BALANCE IS 8,000,000 WON OR MORE, deposited for six months or more; an account in a parent's name needs a notarised kinship certificate. Filed with the application.
Tuition 1,200,000 won a term. No application fee is printed in the guide or on the program page.
Dormitory: Gyeongjeon Hall, Student Residence, Myeonhak Hall or off-campus housing; every applicant can move in. The office page gives about 1,200,000 to 1,500,000 won for 16 weeks with meals (March 2024 basis).

All requirements
- High school graduates or higher: foreigners and overseas Koreans. Dual nationals (including Korean) and stateless people do not count as foreigners
- EXCLUDED COUNTRIES: the Fall and Winter 2026 guide lists China, Vietnam, Mongolia and Uzbekistan as countries that cannot apply. It prints no separate route for them; the older Spring and Summer 2026 guide had no such exclusion
- THE WINTER 2026 TERM IS THE LAST PUBLISHED: applications closed 23 September 2026 for a 23 November start. No Spring 2027 guide was posted on 1 October 2026; the program page says spring runs March to May
- Selection on documents; a phone or Skype interview if needed. The course is for students not yet able to enter a degree, and total enrolment is kept within 400. A level test after arrival places you
- Completion: 70% attendance (140 of 200 hours) and an average of 60, with no more than two subjects under 50
- D-4 extension: bank proof of 8,000,000 won only if attendance was under 70%; immigration fee 61,000 won. Changing to D-2 needs 12,000,000 won in the bank and a 130,000 won fee. No minimum number of terms is printed
- Six months (400 hours) here earn 60% off the first Honam degree semester with TOPIK 3, or 70% with TOPIK 4 or higher (30% for arts and sports entrants below TOPIK 3)
- TOPIK prep course: TOPIK II levels 3 to 4, 40 hours over four weeks (two hours a day, five days a week), 240,000 won
