Published by Honam University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form (form 1, from global.honam.ac.kr), study plan and self-introduction (form 2), personal data consent (form 3) and two passport photos
- High school (or higher) graduation certificate and all-year transcripts, originals with a notarised translation and apostille (consular confirmation elsewhere); four-year graduates the degree certificate
- Schooled in China: CHSI reports; vocational graduates without one, an apostilled graduation certificate from the provincial or city education office
- Bank balance certificate; ID copies of you and your parents; family relationship proof: a family relations certificate in English, or for China the hukou original and copy
- China: two or more hukou, or a household head who is not a parent, adds a notarised kinship certificate
- Passport copy; alien registration card copy (residents of Korea only); entry and exit record if it applies; TOPIK score report from the last two years
- Divorced parents: kinship and divorce certificates; a deceased parent: death certificate. Transfers: previous university transcript and diploma (or enrollment certificate) with notarised translation and apostille
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE (a year's costs), filed with the application. The Korean guide prints no holding period or account holder.
The English guide and the admissions web page say the money must be deposited a year or more; the Vietnamese guide takes a parent's account only, with a notarised kinship certificate.
No application fee is printed in the Fall 2026 guides (Korean, English, Vietnamese) or on the admissions pages. The entrance fee is waived in full on admission.
Tuition is announced after admission and paid at the university's designated bank. A refund is possible until the day before the semester starts (own reasons, or visa refused): apply at the international office.
Dormitory office: +82-62-940-3719; tick the dormitory box on the application and every applicant can move in.
Dormitory, office page (March 2024 basis): about 1,500,000 won (4-person room, Student Residence or International Hall) or 1,200,000 (Myeonhak Hall) for 16 weeks, with weekday breakfast and dinner. Dorm office, Fall 2026 late call for enrolled students: 1,047,000 for a 4-person room in building 13, 15 weeks, one meal a day.

All requirements
- You and BOTH parents are foreign nationals. Dual nationals (including Korean) and stateless people are not treated as foreigners
- Freshmen: all primary and secondary schooling finished, in Korea or abroad, and high school graduated (or about to), or an equivalent qualification. The guide says nothing either way about a GED or homeschooling
- Transfers: year 2 after a year at a four-year university or with a junior college degree; years 3 and 4 after two years or a three-year college degree (two-year college graduates year 3 only). Nursing and Physical Therapy take no transfers
- KOREAN TRACK, one of: TOPIK 4 (arts and sports majors TOPIK 3); King Sejong Institute intermediate 2; KIIP stage 4 or a pre-test score of 81. Applicants below this are failed
- ENGLISH TRACK, one of: TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 5.5 or New TEPS 327; high school or university taught fully in English; citizenship of an English-native or English-official country. The English guide prints lower scores; the Korean one governs
- THE FALL 2026 GUIDE IS THE NEWEST: its two rounds (18 May to 26 June and 13 to 24 July 2026) are closed, and no Spring 2027 guide was posted on 1 October 2026. Re-check global.honam.ac.kr
- Selection is 100% on documents, with no interview or test. You apply on paper, by visit or post to the Office of International Affairs; if posting is hard, e-mail scans by the deadline
- The Korean guide lists a Korean and an English track only. The admissions web page and the Vietnamese guide also mention a Chinese track; ask the office before counting on it
- Not in the Fall 2026 freshman list though on the university site: Occupational Therapy, Clinical Laboratory Science, Emergency Medical Services, Early Childhood Education, Companion Animal Health, Undeclared Major, Dream Life
- The guide uses department names from before a reorganisation (for example School of Business, Hotel Convention, Computer Engineering); the university site now lists new units. Units may change, so confirm your major with the office
