What do I need?

• Application form, the education history and nationality form, and the consent to foreign-school verification (forms 1 to 3, printed from Jinhak Apply and signed)
• High school graduation (or expected) certificate with apostille or consular confirmation (China: CHSI online certificate) and the transcript for every semester (Korean schools: the school life record)
• Passport or ID copies of you, your father and your mother, and a family relation document (China: notarised kinship certificate or birth certificate); divorce or death papers where relevant
• TOPIK 1 or higher, or the Hongik institute level 1 certificate; proof of losing Korean nationality if that applies
• Art departments: teacher recommendation, five-work A4 portfolio and pledge. Performing Arts: two unedited videos of three minutes or less on two USB sticks
• Optional: language institute records, national exam scores (Gaokao, SAT), high school awards

THE BANK BALANCE IS 20,000,000 WON (USD 20,000 OR CNY 140,000 from a foreign bank) in your or a parent's name, issued on or after 13 January and filed 13 to 26 January 2027, frozen past 2 March (criteria C: six months). A parent's account needs the parent's employment (or business) and income (or property tax) papers. Chinese banks: ICBC, Agricultural, Construction or Bank of China only; Uzbek applicants a Korean bank locally with three months' validity. Applicants registered in Korea: an own-name Korean-bank certificate only; recognised refugees exempt; a scholarship letter is accepted instead.

Application fee 150,000 won plus 8,000 for Jinhak Apply, not refundable.

Dormitory (Seoul, from the graduate guide): second dormitory two-person 1,647,000 won; third dormitory two-person 1,524,000, single 3,025,000. Sejong: four-person 658,000 to 806,200, two-person 1,079,800 to 1,399,000. Prices may change.

National health insurance starts automatically at alien registration; a KB group policy is optional.

All requirements

• You and BOTH parents (biological or adoptive) have held foreign nationality since before you entered high school; a parent still Korean at the deadline, or your own Korean dual nationality, rules you out
• You graduated (or will) from a regular high school (under-12-year systems only if the Ministry of Education recognises them). Language or prep courses, adult, correspondence or online education, a GED and homeschooling do NOT count
• TO APPLY: TOPIK 1 or higher (IBT accepted), or level 1 completed at Hongik's own institute. A missing certificate must arrive by 20 November 2026. No English score replaces Korean
• AFTER ADMISSION, by level: TOPIK 4 to 6 (A) one designated Korean course; TOPIK 3 (B) five designated Korean courses in the first semester; TOPIK 1 to 2 (C) a semester's leave and at least two terms at the Hongik institute first
• Criteria C students whose D-4 runs out before 31 August 2027 and cannot be extended, or who were expelled from the institute, lose the admission. TOPIK 4 is needed to graduate
• Selection: 100% on documents for humanities, sciences and arts; Performing Arts 60% documents and 40% practical videos. School-violence records cut the score or disqualify
• Art departments (all but Art Studies) file a sealed teacher recommendation, a portfolio of up to five A4 works signed by you and an art teacher, and a portfolio pledge
• One campus (Seoul or Sejong) and one unit per application; no quota per unit
