What can I study?

Published by Hoseo University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Graduate application and study plan on the graduate school forms (Korean or English; Chinese with a translation), plus the Hoseo foreigner application form
• Bachelor's (PhD: also master's) graduation and degree certificate copies and original transcripts; two degree authentications (China: CHSI; apostille countries: notarised translation then apostille; others: consular confirmation)
• Passport and ID copies (ARC copy if you live in Korea); family relation certificate; four 3.5 x 4.5 cm photos (the English guide says two); career certificate if any
• Bank balance certificate. PhD: a research plan on the set form; integrated master's and PhD: a supervisor's recommendation and a research plan

THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE in your own name (a parent's if you are a minor), deposited three months or more, filed with the application; it is also used for the visa.

Application fee 80,000 won for a master's (Music 100,000); 100,000 for a PhD or integrated course (international students); Seoul campus 100,000. Entrance fee 780,000 won once. The English guide adds a 100,000 won Student Service Fee (Graduate School of Venture exempt).

Expected graduates send the original graduation certificate by the end of August 2026 or the admission is cancelled. To get fees back after registering, file an admission withdrawal before the semester starts.

Dormitory rates are not printed in the graduate guides; the undergraduate and language center guides print 1,020,000 won a semester for a four-person room with two meals a day.

All requirements

• Both parents foreign nationals; admitted outside the quota in a separate foreigner selection. Master's: a bachelor's held or expected by August 2026; PhD: a master's by August 2026 (the English guide says February 2026; the Korean governs)
• LANGUAGE, one of: TOPIK 3 (arts and PE 2), or its equal (KIIP pre-test 61 or stage 3, King Sejong intermediate 1). English courses: TOEFL iBT 3.5 new scale (59 old), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2 or New TEPS 202
• English-course applicants who are nationals of an English-official country and studied at university level there may use that instead of a score
• No language score: 300 hours of Korean at the Hoseo Korean Language Center within a year of entry, or course registration may be limited
• ENGLISH COURSES (half the credits or more in English): English Language and Literature, Law, Economics, Energy Climate Environment Convergence Technology, the United Graduate School of Theology, Venture Management (Seoul)
• BILINGUAL COURSES IN CHINESE (half the credits or more in Chinese or interpreted), plus 300 hours of Korean: Human Resource Development, Digital Technology Management, Physical Education, Formative Convergence Arts, Culture and Arts
• THE FALL 2026 GUIDES ARE THE NEWEST: the last round (10 to 18 August 2026) is closed. The Spring 2027 guide is not posted yet; last year the first Spring round guide appeared on 16 October 2025
• Selection: an interview or document screening. Consult the International Admissions Team before applying and apply through it, not the online portal; no change of major after entry
• The Graduate School of Education takes current teachers only (Educational Administration excepted). No medicine
• Master's: your bachelor's may be in any field. PhD: the same field as your master's in principle; another field only if the department agrees. Music (master's) admits performance, composition and theory, and pedagogy only
• Missing the interview means failing; the school may admit no one if it judges ability too low, whatever the places
