What do I need?

• Application form (school form) and one 3 x 4 cm photo
• Passport and national ID copies; family relation proof copy, authenticated (apostille or similar)
• High school diploma copy (apostille or other authentication required) and transcript; university graduation or enrolment certificate if you have one
• Health check certificate including a tuberculosis test; bank balance certificate original

THE BANK BALANCE IS USD 9,000 OR MORE (original certificate); the guide does not say in whose name.

Tuition is printed as 2,600,000 won for 20 weeks, textbooks extra (about 50,000 won for two main books and about 10,000 for two workbooks). The fall and winter guides print this figure for a single 10-week term; ask the center which length it buys.

Processing fee 100,000 won, not refunded. Paid to the university's Shinhan Bank account (overseas transfers by SWIFT).

Dormitory per 15-week university semester with breakfast and dinner (no Friday dinner or holidays): four-person room 1,020,000 won; two-person A 1,621,000; B 1,379,000 (two people in a four-person room). The rest of a 20-week semester is paid separately.

Insurance: school group insurance about 70,000 to 110,000 won a year; national health insurance after six months, about 70,000 to 80,000 won a month.

All requirements

• Korean is not your native language; a high school diploma or equivalent, in principle
• WINTER 2026 (newest guide): apply 31 August to 9 October 2026; results from 21 September, one by one; tuition 23 September to 9 October; admission certificates from 28 September by payment order; classes 23 November to 2 February
• Applications are reviewed in the order they arrive: a document check (about one to two weeks), then an interview; results within a week of it, with the tuition invoice. No Spring 2027 guide is posted yet
• Each 20-week semester (400 hours) is split into two 10-week terms: spring and summer from March, fall and winter from September
• D-4-1 visa at a Korean mission, usually valid six months; start at least two months before the term. The guides print no minimum number of terms
• Part-time work: not in the first six months; after that, with permission, 20 hours a week with TOPIK 2 (or King Sejong beginner 2, KIIP stage 2, pre-test 41), 25 at a certified university, 10 without
• Refunds: all tuition before the start or on a visa refusal, less the 100,000 won processing fee; after the start two thirds before a third of the term, half up to half way, nothing after
• Level 3B here meets the Korean requirement for a Hoseo undergraduate place (then 300 hours of Korean after entry, extra cost); one semester or one year here adds 10% or 20% to the undergraduate scholarship
