What do I need?

• Application form and personal data consent on the school forms; a 3 x 4 cm passport photo; an original recommendation letter if needed
• Your passport copy; ID copies of you and your parents; family relation proof (China: hukou, plus a notarised kinship certificate if the hukou is split; elsewhere the national form)
• High school diploma (certified copy) and transcript, plus an authenticated graduation certificate: China a CHSI report or apostille; elsewhere apostille or embassy (consular) confirmation
• Bank balance certificate; a TOPIK score report if you have one
• Transfers add a university enrolment or graduation certificate, the university transcript and an authenticated university graduation certificate

THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE, filed WITH the application. The guide does not say in whose name.

Application fee 60,000 won to the university's Shinhan Bank account (holder 호서대학교, new account from 1 July 2026); not refunded if the admission is cancelled. The English guide adds a 100,000 won Student Service Fee on first admission, not refundable.

Tuition: the first-semester rate is 150,000 won above the rate from the second semester on (English guide), which the Korean guide also applies to transfer students. 2026 rates, may change by decision of the tuition committee.

Dormitory a semester with breakfast and dinner (no Friday dinner), 2026: four-person room 1,020,000 won; two-person A 1,620,000, B 1,308,000 (the newer August language center guide prints 1,621,000 and 1,379,000). Asan +82-41-540-5309, Cheonan +82-41-560-8492.

If you file an expected-graduation certificate, send the graduation certificate before entry or the admission can be cancelled. Papers are not returned.

All requirements

• You and BOTH parents are foreign nationals (the pure-foreigner admission)
• You finished 12 years of primary and secondary school and graduated (or will) from high school in Korea or abroad. Schooling by GED, homeschooling or online learning is NOT accepted
• KOREAN, one of: TOPIK 3; King Sejong intermediate 1; KIIP stage 3 (pre-test 61); level 3 on Hoseo's own test (Hoseo TOPIK); level 3B at the Hoseo Korean Language Center; a Korean high school diploma
• ARTS AND PE majors: the same list with TOPIK 2 or Hoseo TOPIK 2. Entry on Hoseo TOPIK or the 3B course means 300 hours of Korean at Hoseo after entry, at extra cost
• ENGLISH TRACK (International Studies, English Language and Literature): TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600 or New TEPS 326, or the nationality of a country where English is a native or official language
• International Division (not its English track): no Korean score to apply; you take the Korean courses the division sets after entry
• THE FALL 2026 GUIDE IS THE NEWEST: its three rounds (4 May to 17 July 2026) are closed. The Spring 2027 guide is not posted yet; the Korean Language Center says Spring 2027 applications run November to December 2026, dates to follow
• Last year the Spring guide appeared on 27 October, with a first window of 27 October to 7 November 2025 and a second of 8 to 19 December 2025
• Selection: documents plus an interview (in person or online), pass or fail; a fail from any one interviewer means fail. Arts majors may hold a practical test and ask for a portfolio
• Transfers: year 3 with a junior college degree, a four-year degree or four semesters at a four-year university; year 4 for graduates of a partner school in a similar major. Transfers follow a separate transfer guide from the school
• No medicine. Nursing is open in Fall 2026. Foreign students cannot take the teacher certificate course; design and some other majors may need extra semesters
• GKS 2027: Hoseo takes the Embassy Track Type B and R-GKS only; the embassy deadline was 30 September 2026
