What can I study?

Published by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS). Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Application form on uwayapply and the Agreement for Verification of Academic Records
• Personal statement and study plan, one per chosen major, in Korean (Korean track) or English (English track)
• Official high school transcripts, uploaded and mailed, with a notarised translation and an apostille or Korean consular certification
• High school graduation or expected graduation certificate
• Optional Korean or English proficiency certificate
• Passport copy, residence card copy if held, both parents' passports or nationality papers, and a family relationship document
• Financial Certification form from uwayapply
• Optional sealed recommendation letters on the HUFS form; CKLC or FLTTC completion certificates, awards

THE BANK BALANCE IS NOT PART OF THE APPLICATION. Admitted students show at least 20,000,000 won in their own or a parent's name, issued within 30 days of the visa request, two copies. Chinese certificates need 30 days of frozen validity.

Application fee 158,000 won, paid online, not refunded.

Dormitory: Global Hall (Seoul) 2,502,000 won for six months; HUFS Dorm (Global campus) 1,337,000 for four months. A TB test certificate is required.

National health insurance is compulsory from the day you enter on a D-2.

All requirements

• You are not a Korean citizen and neither are both parents (or your legal guardians), held since before you entered high school. A custodial parent remarried to a Korean rules you out
• You finished (or will, before admission) primary and secondary school. A GED, an equivalency exam, homeschooling, cyber learning or a language institute does NOT count
• LANGUAGE PROOF IS OPTIONAL. Korean track: TOPIK 3, HUFS CKLC level 3, level 3 at another certified university institute, or Sejong Institute intermediate 1. Without proof you are interviewed
• ENGLISH TRACK (International Studies only): TOEFL iBT 3.5 (59 before 20 January 2026) or IELTS 5.5; exempt with an English-speaking nationality or three years of school in one. TOPIK 3 is still needed to graduate
• Evaluation: papers 30, language 30, interview 40. No quota except the College of Education (10% of its quota, freshmen only). You may name two majors, even on different campuses
• Admitted students whose Korean needs work may be assigned up to a year of credited intensive Korean (300 hours a semester). TOPIK 4 holders, International Studies admits and transfers are exempt
• Departments not on the list are not recruiting. No leave of absence in the first semester except hospitalisation
• Seoul admits live in Global Hall, Global campus admits in the HUFS Dorm; Songdo has no dormitory
