- Music: voice and instrumental majors (performance video required)
Published by Kangnam University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Online application and study plan on apply.kangnam.ac.kr; upload every paper there. After results, originals by post or in person to the Graduate School office (Shalom Hall room 1003)
- Degree certificate (or expected). China: CHSI degree verification report plus the degree certificate. Other countries: apostille, or Korean consular confirmation in the country of the university
- Transcripts showing credits and GPA (with the scale). China: notarised Korean or English translation. Other countries: apostille or consular confirmation. PhD: a recommendation from a professor in the field (school form)
- Passport first page, ID both sides, alien registration card if in Korea; parents' ID cards
- Family relation proof: China, a notarised family relation certificate, or the household register (호구부) if a parent is the household head and one register shows the whole family; elsewhere, a family relation or birth certificate
- Parents divorced or deceased: proof of it. Korean-origin applicants (or parents): proof of losing Korean nationality or taking the foreign one
- Language certificate: TOPIK 3 (general course), or HSK 6, TOEFL 530 (CBT 197, iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600, or NLTV B2 for the tracks, unless the language is your official language
- Bank deposit certificate (see notes). If you live in Korea: immigration record certificate and proof of address (lease, accommodation confirmation, utility bill or dormitory receipt)
- Expected graduates add the degree certificate and final transcript after graduating
- Music (International Graduate School): the performance video, uploaded with the online application
THE BANK BALANCE IS KRW 20,000,000 or more, in your or a financial guarantor's (parent's) name, Korean or foreign bank. A registered foreigner graduating from Kangnam and moving up: KRW 10,000,000.
Original, issued within 30 days of the application deadline, kept frozen for 3 months or more from that deadline. Dollar certificates are converted at the issue-date rate. Foreigners registered in Korea file a Korean bank certificate only.
A guarantor adds proof of employment or business registration, a salary or property tax certificate and a study-cost pledge. If both parents have died, a sibling's certificate with proof of the relation.
Application fee: foreign applicants 100,000 won (Korean applicants: master's 70,000, PhD 100,000). No refund after applying, except for reasons the school accepts (disaster, the school's fault).
ENTRANCE FEE 875,000 WON, ONCE, printed as its own line above tuition (2026 rates). Regular round: a deposit at registration and the balance later; additional round: full payment.
Dormitory: not printed in the graduate guide.

- FOREIGN APPLICANTS: a foreign student whose parents are both foreign nationals, or an overseas Korean who completed all of 16 or more years of schooling abroad
- Master's: a bachelor's from a 4-year university in Korea or abroad (or expected by August 2026, Fall 2026 guide), or an equal level. PhD: a master's (or expected by August 2026), or an equal level
- KOREAN (general course): TOPIK 3 or higher. Exempt: F-4 (overseas Korean) or F-5 (permanent resident) visa holders; foreign-language-track entrants; graduates of a Korean university or graduate school after 4 or more semesters in Korea
- FOREIGN-LANGUAGE TRACKS (★ in the guide): Chinese, a Chinese native or official-language national, or HSK 6
- English track: an English native or official-language national, or TOEFL 530 (CBT 197, iBT 71), IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600 (old TOEFL scale as printed; no new 1 to 6 figure: ask)
- Vietnamese track: a Vietnamese native or official-language national, or the Vietnamese test (NLTV) B2
- SELECTION: documents 40% (PhD: study plan, major fit, earlier grades, recommendation, 25 each; master's: 35, 35, 30) and interview 60%
- Interview for foreign applicants: motivation 30, major fit 30, study plan 30, language ability 10. Interviews are online by Zoom
- Write the study plan online in Korean or English (motivation, research plan, plans after graduation). Apply to one department only. If D-2 is refused by the Ministry of Justice, the admission is cancelled
- Transfers only where places are left; the additional round fills places left after the regular round
- TUITION (2026 table; 2027 not posted): each row shows 수업료 (tuition). The 875,000 won entrance fee is added once, to the first semester. The table prints no period; the Graduate School registration page says tuition is paid each semester
- THE FALL 2026 GUIDE IS THE NEWEST. Its rounds closed on 1 June and 13 July 2026, and no Spring 2027 guide was posted on 19 October 2026 (still none on 21 October)
- Timing hint only: last year the Graduate School posted its Spring 2026 notice on 14 October 2025. That is not a Spring 2027 date; watch the Graduate School notice board
- TEACHING LANGUAGE: Chinese. The graduate school's Chinese-course page (undated, 中文授课) says all teaching is in Chinese (全程中文教育) and that TOPIK 2 holders may skip its graduate Korean class. It lists the two business units, not Music
- FEES, as printed: International Business and International Economics and Trade 9,634,000 won (the same in and outside the quota); Music 5,432,000 within the quota, 8,682,000 outside. Which Music column applies to you is not printed
- MUSIC (International Graduate School): upload a performance video with the application; it replaces the interview's major-fit score. Play from memory, filmed so your upper body, face and both hands show
- Music video pieces: voice, 1 aria (opera, oratorio or concert) in the original language and key plus 1 art song; violin, cello, flute or clarinet, 1 movement of a concerto or sonata; piano, 1 Classical or Romantic piece
