What do I need?
- Application form (Form 1) and self-introduction with study plan (Form 2, 4,000 bytes per item), filled in online in Korean or English
- Bachelor's (expected) certificate and transcript with percentiles or grade scale, original and translation. PhD applicants add the master's certificate and transcript
- Language proof (one): TOPIK, an English score, Kangwon Korean course level 4, KIIP or King Sejong papers, an apostilled English-native school diploma, the adviser letter (Form 4) or the pledge (Form 5)
- Research-institute programme applicants: the recommendation letter (Form 3)
- Passport copy valid 6 months past entry; alien registration card copy if you live in Korea; your parents' ID cards or passports
- Government family relationship certificate with a translation, issued within 6 months (the guide's examples by country are in the notes; Kangwon graduates may skip it)
- Financial proof (Form 6 and a bank balance certificate). See the notes
BANK BALANCE 16,000,000 WON OR MORE, yours or a guarantor's (one parent, or your future adviser) with Form 6, Korean or English, kept through the visa period, issued within 30 days. In Korea: your own Korean bank.
Rules printed for named countries, copied whole: "우즈베키스탄에 거주하는 우즈베키스탄 국적자의 경우 우즈베키스탄 현지 KDB 산업은행 잔고증명서만 제출 가능"; "중국 국적자의 경우 최소 30일 이상 동결기간(유효기간) 필수".
In English: residents of Uzbekistan who hold its nationality file only a KDB Bank certificate from Uzbekistan; Chinese nationals need funds frozen at least 30 days. Uzbek nationals file the international passport.

Application fee 50,000 won (general departments, Physical Education, art theory); 80,000 won (Music; Fine Arts and Design, art and craft design). Government-invited scholars are exempt. Not refunded.
Results 24 December 2026 on the website. Tuition 28 December 2026 to 4 January 2027; no split payment. Admission letter 29 December to 26 February, after tuition and all originals.
Expected graduates file the final degree papers by 19 February 2027; China CHSI reports must be valid to 31 March 2027.
Dormitory: every foreign freshman who asks gets a room. Gangneung: upkeep 1,115,500 + meals 604,200 won a semester; Wonju, no meals: 737,100 to 1,770,210 won (4 months, 2026 second semester).
Accident insurance from the day you arrive is compulsory, and National Health Insurance applies by law. Papers are not returned. Dormitory stays in the holidays need a separate application.
ONLINE: the application site works only in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome on Windows. Upload one PDF per item, up to 8MB; a file that cannot be opened counts as not submitted.
A degree from a Korean university needs no apostille: a copy of the degree certificate is enough. Final papers come sealed by the issuer, with your application number on the envelope.
REFUNDS: tuition is refunded if you give up before the entry date for a legal reason or your visa is refused; apply to the Gangneung office. Before the entry date, a full refund; after entry, a reduced refund by days of class.

- GANGNEUNG AND WONJU CAMPUSES: master's, PhD and integrated master's and PhD. One guide for both campuses, separate from Chuncheon and Samcheok
- You and both parents hold foreign nationality, all taken before you began high-school-level study. Dual nationality is not accepted
- Master's and integrated: a bachelor's (graduating counts). PhD: a master's. Degrees only from universities recognised by their own education ministry; 검정고시, homeschooling and non-full-time cyber degrees do not count
- LANGUAGE (one of): TOPIK 3 valid after 2 March 2027; Kangwon Korean course level 4 class; KIIP level 3 or 61 points; King Sejong Intermediate 1 (local only); TOEFL iBT 71 (4.0), IELTS Academic 5.5 or New TEPS 327
- or nationals of an English-native or English-official country with school proof; as printed, "영어 모국어 국가 (7개국): 미국, 영국, 캐나다, 남아공, 뉴질랜드, 호주, 아일랜드"
- or exchange students, Korean or foreign government scholars, or a letter from your future adviser certifying your language (Form 4)
- No score yet? Sign the pledge (Form 5): TOPIK by 10 December 2026, or Kangwon's Korean course certificate by 19 February 2027. If you also filed a language paper, that paper is what is reviewed
- Selection: documents only, two department reviewers, pass or fail, 7 to 10 December. Places are outside the quota (정원외)
- One application per intake, across all campuses: a later duplicate fails. No change or cancellation after the fee is paid
- TUITION a semester, 2026 rates: humanities and social 2,082,000; sciences and PE 2,518,000; engineering 2,729,000; arts 2,989,000; medicine (dentistry) 4,341,000. Whether an entrance fee is inside is not printed
- Teaching language is not printed in the graduate guide; the Chuncheon and Samcheok guides say most Kangwon classes are taught in Korean. Ask the department
- The 16 October 2026 notices say the 2027 guides were still being revised when posted. Before you apply, check the campus page for a newer guide file than the one cited here
