What can I study?

Published by Kangwon National University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.

What do I need?

• Online application form (Form 1), personal statement and study plan (Form 2), each up to 4,000 bytes Guide
• Consent to an academic background check (Form 5)
• Bachelor's degree certificate and transcript with grades, with translations; a PhD applicant adds the master's
• Language certificate, the pledge (Form 3), or an exceptional-researcher letter from your prospective adviser (Form 4)
• Recommendation letter from your dean or adviser: PhD and combined applicants, and master's applicants to Political Science, Korean Language and Literature or Physical Education
• Copy of your passport, valid six months past the start date, and your residence card if you live in Korea
• Copies of your own and both parents' ID cards
• Government family relationship certificate, issued within six months, with a translation
• Music, Fine Art and Design: compositions, performance video or portfolio
• If admitted: bank balance certificate of 16,000,000 won, yours or a parent's, issued within 30 days, with Form 6

SPRING 2027 DATES ARE NOT OUT YET. Kangwon's admission page says spring applications run in October.

The fee is 50,000 won and cannot be refunded or waived.

Chinese applicants' deposits must be frozen for at least 30 days. Uzbek applicants living in Uzbekistan must use KDB Bank Uzbekistan.

All requirements

• You and both parents hold foreign nationality, acquired before you started high school. Dual nationality is not accepted
• A bachelor's degree, from a university accredited in its own country
• English only: TOEFL iBT 86 (4.5 on the new scale), IELTS 6.5, TOEIC 800 or TEPS 801 (New TEPS 453)
• No recommendation letter is needed for Global Convergence
• First-semester scholarship by English score: about 50% at IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 94, about 40% at IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 79. Korean scores do not count for this track
• Judged on documents by the department, with an interview if it wants one
• Papers go to the Global Talent Network Center, Room 106, Chuncheon campus, +82-33-250-7969
