What do I need?
- Online application on Kangwon's own system Apply
- Copy of your passport
- Diploma from your last school, apostilled or embassy-certified, issued within six months
- Final transcript, apostilled or embassy-certified, issued within six months
- Copy of an ID for each family member, in English
- Letter of guarantee and a bank statement showing more than USD 6,000, issued within a month
- Application fee, 70,000 won, not refunded
- If you submit your parents' bank statement, also submit a certificate of kinship or birth certificate.
- Applicants from three countries named on the documents page add three months of bank transactions.
- Applicants from two of those countries must use a named bank. See the documents page.
CHECK WHETHER YOU MAY APPLY AT ALL before you gather anything: from 2026 sixteen nationalities are closed, with three exceptions. Both are under Requirements.
SCAN, UPLOAD, THEN POST. Kangwon checks the scans, then asks for the originals by international post, to arrive before the application deadline.
Parents' bank statement? Add a kinship or birth certificate. Applicants from some countries add three months of transactions or must use a named bank. See the documents page.
THE BANK FIGURE DIFFERS BY PAGE: the programme's documents page says more than USD 6,000; Kangwon's fall 2026 degree guide says at least 8,000,000 won. Ask langcntr@kangwon.ac.kr which applies.
Kangwon says any application period may close early.
ALREADY IN KOREA AND NOT NEEDING A D-4? Only the form, a passport copy, a residence card copy (front and back) and the 70,000 won fee.
Applicants from one country follow a separate list: a verified diploma report, a notarised transcript with a Korean translation, a household register, and a deposit of more than 50,000 RMB frozen for over six months. See the documents page.

- FROM 2026 KANGWON (CHUNCHEON) DOES NOT ACCEPT ORDINARY APPLICATIONS from Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Uganda, Iran, Egypt, India, Cameroon, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Peru, or the Philippines
- Three exceptions: applicants recommended by Kangwon's partner institutions, and relatives of Kangwon students or of people who live in Chuncheon city
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- D-4 VISA ONLY IF YOU ENROL FOR AT LEAST TWO TERMS
- To move up a level you need 80% attendance and an average of 70
- Refunds only before the term starts
- No part-time work in your first six months in Korea
