A scholarship below can remove the tuition line.
What can I study?
- English Language and Literature (English Linguistics, English Literature)
- International Area & Cultural Studies (East-Asia Studies, Maritime History and Culture, Cultural Interaction Studies)
- Convergence Interdisciplinary Education of Maritime & Ocean Logistics: Convergence of Maritime & Ocean Culture Contents
Published by Korea Maritime & Ocean University. Which of these a scholarship covers is decided by the school.
What do I need?
- Application form (form 1), personal statement and study plan (form 2) and personal-data agreement (form 3), each signed or sealed after printing
- Bachelor's degree certificate and full transcript (CGPA or percentage); PhD applicants add the master's certificate and transcript. Each with an apostille or consular confirmation
- A transcript not on a 4.0, 4.3 or 4.5 scale needs a converted transcript confirmed by the university (scholaro.com or wes.org conversions count only if the university confirms them)
- Letter of recommendation from a present professor; a valid language score, or the supervisor's language-exemption recommendation (form 5)
- Copies of your passport (or nationality certificate) and your parents' passports, plus a family relationship document. Alien registration card copy if you live in Korea (optional)
- Studied in China, as printed: "both online verification from CHSI in English and School-issued Graduation Certificate with Apostille"
- Financial documents (see the notes)
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON: an original statement in your name, or in your parents' name with an employment, income or tax certificate (or a business registration copy).
Or a scholarship certificate (form 4 allowed), or a prospective supervisor's financial guarantee (form 4), each at least 16,000,000 won a year; a supervisor may guarantee one international student at a time.
Financial papers: issued within 30 days of filing, or valid until their printed expiry (up to 6 months from issue). They cannot be reused for the visa or other purposes.
If you cannot file a converted transcript, the screening committee may convert your grades by the criteria in its admission plan (guide note 2).
Family papers without a passport: a government birth certificate or family register proving the relation and citizenship; a divorce or death certificate if a parent's papers are missing. Ethnic group, birth place or residence do not count as citizenship.
Chinese applicants, as printed: "can submit a household register or a certificate of kinship. Consular confirmation is required. If the document is written in Chinese, submit a certified translation as well."
Application fee 50,000 won or 60 US dollars by bank transfer to the graduate school account printed in the guide (NongHyup Bank, KMOU Branch), paid by the deadline, in your name. Not refunded.
ENTRANCE FEE 178,500 WON, ONCE (2026 international table), billed with the first semester's tuition.
Dormitory: the same halls as undergraduates; Achi Hall (single) is marked "Graduate Students Only" on the undated housing page. 2026 second-semester rates with meals: 1,146,080 to 1,828,420 won a semester.
