What do I need?
- Document checklist (form 1) and the application form printed from Jinhak Apply with a photo (form 2); self-introduction (form 3); research plan (form 4)
- Language proof matching your department's rule: TOPIK 3+, a university institute certificate and all-term transcripts, KNU's test, KIIP, King Sejong, an English score, or the English-exemption papers
- Master's: bachelor's (expected) certificate and transcript. PhD: master's (expected) certificate and transcript. Each with an apostille or consular confirmation (not needed for a degree earned in Korea)
- Degrees from China: a CHSI report, filed in English. Apostille or consular certificates must be originals issued within 6 months
- Nationality and family proof: copies of your parents' ID or passports, and an original proving the nationality of you and your parents and your relation (notarised within 1 year). Chinese nationals: hukou and kinship papers as printed
- Passport copy (unexpired); alien registration card copy, front and back, if you hold one
- Financial proof: the study expense pledge (form 5) and an original bank balance certificate (see the notes). A professor who guarantees you adds form 6
THE BANK BALANCE IS 16,000,000 WON OR MORE, in your or a parent's name (a sibling if both parents have died); residents with an alien registration card file a Korean bank certificate in their own name.
Lower amount, 8,000,000 won: the guide's document table gives it to anyone legally in Korea moving straight up to a higher KNU course (Korean course, bachelor's or master's at KNU); its bank section gives it to KNU Korean course completers only. Ask.
Issued within 30 days of filing; one that prints a validity period counts until then, if issued within 6 months. Statements and screenshots do not count. File it with the papers (19 October to 19 November 2026) or after acceptance (1 to 5 February 2027).
Applicants living in Korea who join the school's group visa application must file a bank certificate in their own name again.
Application fee 30,000 won, by card or bank transfer on the application site (the payer's name must match). Paid fees are not returned.
ENTRANCE FEE 179,000 WON, ONCE, printed on its own line above tuition in every band. The domestic graduate guide counts it inside the same totals; ask whether it is extra.
Results: 31 December 2026 after 10:00 on the international office site, no individual contact. Tuition in January 2027; the admission letter comes by e-mail after all papers are in and tuition is paid.
Dormitory, a semester, 2026 second-semester rates with meals: Gongju 1,647,400 to 2,608,900 won; Cheonan 1,088,370 to 1,913,350 won; Yesan 1,667,150 to 2,393,950 won, by hall and room.
An e-visa service is offered only to applicants who come through partner agencies the office has approved in advance (guide item 17).
National Health Insurance is compulsory for students staying 6 months or more; without it scholarships can be withheld and the office will not handle your visa paperwork.
Scholarship holders file the sponsor's letter of planned payment; under 16,000,000 won, add bank proof. Tuition is refunded in full only if you give up your place before the entrance date; after it, less by days of class.
Graduates of universities in Myanmar, as printed (consular confirmation may follow after entry): "미얀마 대학 출신 지원자의 경우, 최종 학력 입증 서류(졸업 및 성적증명서)에 대한 영사확인 서류는 해당국 상황을 고려하여 입학 후 본 대학에서 별도로 정하는 기한까지 제출 가능".

All requirements
- You and both parents hold foreign nationality (accepted if all of you took it before you began high-school-level study). Dual nationals holding Korean nationality and stateless persons cannot apply
- Master's: a bachelor's from a regular 4-year university. PhD: a master's. Expected degrees must be earned by the end of February 2027; file the final certificate by 19 February 2027 or the admission is cancelled
- Any earlier major is accepted; a different field takes up to 12 credits of prerequisite courses set by the department. One application only, across all campuses
- LANGUAGE (one of): TOPIK 3; level 3 of a Korean course at a Korean university institute; KNU's Korean test; KIIP level 3; King Sejong intermediate 1 (not online); or an English score (next line)
- English scores, as printed: TOEFL(ibt) 71(4), TOEFL(cbt) 197, TOEFL(pbt) 530, IELTS 5.5, New TEPS 326, CEFR B2, TOEIC 700. Valid on the deadline, or 2 years from the test date if no validity is printed
- English exemption as printed: "법무부 고시 7개 국가- 미국/영국/캐나다/호주/뉴질랜드/아일랜드/남아프라카공화국". From a country with English as a legal official language: an original MOI letter for your university study plus its diploma and transcript
- Some departments add their own rule (see the majors list and the language lines). Departments marked with * in the guide have one
- Selection: documents only (self-introduction, research plan and so on), 100%. No interview. Seats are outside the quota, by academic ability
- COUNSELLING FIRST: 25 departments, marked "counselling required" in the majors list, take international students only as their teaching allows, so you must talk to the professor the guide names (p.6) before you apply
- Some departments may be created or closed: ask the department first
- Most departments teach in Korean; ask the department about English lectures, class times and methods
- TO GRADUATE: TOPIK 4, or TOPIK 3 for government scholars, arts and PE programmes and science and engineering graduate entrants. English entrants need the school's English standard. Scores must be earned while enrolled
- TUITION (2026, may change for 2027): entrance fee 179,000 once; tuition by field: humanities and social 2,434,000; engineering 3,190,000; arts and PE 3,190,000; natural sciences 2,937,000; geography 2,926,000
- Geography Education is in the geography band; Geography is in the humanities and social band (guide note). The table prints no period (Korean tuition is billed each semester)
- ASK BEFORE YOU BUDGET: the school's domestic 2027 graduate guide prints the same totals as entrance fee plus tuition (2,434,000 = 179,000 + 2,255,000). The finance office (+82-41-850-8092) can confirm your first bill
